Activities at Hilderstone Hall Care Home

Our activities team are, first and foremost, devoted to each and every resident in the home, and strive to ensure that their interests, hobbies, capabilities and individual requests are met to the highest standard. This could include one-to-one chats, hand massages, reading, music therapy, flower arranging, movement to music, arts & crafts, gardening and baking. We also have regular fun, adventurous and stimulating trips, where we encourage families and loved ones to join us. We have close links with the Alzheimer's Society, the local primary school, and Trinity Skills who come to sing with residents. All the staff at Hilderstone Hall participate in activities with residents, offering encouragement, stimulation and interaction for everyone involved, providing the most fulfilling experience possible.

Hannah Perry

Activities Lead

Hi I’m Hannah and I am the Activities Lead. I have two children and love spending time on my allotment growing fruit and veg. I joined the team at Hilderstone Hall in October 2023 and have become a valued member of the team. I enjoy working with the residents and getting to know them, as well as making sure they take part in various activities such as singing, crafts, baking and much more! I have over 9 years experience within the care industry and worked previously as an Activities Co-Ordinator before coming to Hilderstone.

Life at Hilderstone Hall Care Home

Residents enjoy virtual talk with Blenheim Palace

Ahead of Armed Forces Day, we were transported back in time for a World War II themed talk and tour of Blenheim Palace, hosted by Antonia Keaney, the Palace’s social historian and author.

Entitled ‘Evacuees and Espionage,’ Antonia’s wartime themed talk focused on how the Marlborough family, estate staff and the Palace itself played a full and energetic part in the war effort.

The talk and tour told the story of how the Palace prepared for the worst, survived the onslaught of 400 boys being evacuated to Blenheim and kept the secrets of MI5.

It was a lovely experience, enjoyed by all.

Long Service Award

A Housekeeper at Hilderstone Hall in Hilderstone nr Stone has received a prestigious Long Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for twenty years.

Lesley Stirzaker, Housekeeper, started at Barchester in May 2001 and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.

Jane McFarlane, Employee Services Director at Barchester said: “I’m always pleased to hear stories about the long service of Barchester staff and am delighted that Lesley has achieved this milestone. It is dedication like this that ensures our residents are provided with a happy place to live.”

Hereford Cathedral

We had a lovely time joining the team from Hereford Cathedral for an exciting virtual session.

We enjoyed a glimpse of this spectacular building and its treasures in a series of short pre-recorded videos. From the stunning gardens which lead down to the River Wye, to the Mappa Mundi and Chained Library.

It was wonderful to learn more about the history and beauty of Hereford Cathedral.

Happy Carers Week!

Happy Carers Week. We would like to take this great opportunity to recognise and thank our wonderful carers at Hilderstone Hall in Stone.

We are proud of each and every one of our care team for the outstanding care that they provide to our residents every single day. They always go above and beyond their role and for this we are truly grateful.

Our carers received numerous donations and gifts from local organisations and businesses and lovely thank you cards from our community members, relatives and friends.

A virtual tour of Knowsley Safari Park

Here at Hilderstone Hall we were pleased to be able to dive into the wild safari life of Knowsley Safari and to enjoy an amazing live stream tour of the park’s grounds.

Our residents were smiling and laughing as they got up close and personal with some of the safari’s most popular animals, including giraffes and meerkats and much more!

We had a wonderful time learning more about the animals and enjoying some live feeding demonstrations.

Flowers with Blooming Haus

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Hilderstone Hall care home were treated to an interactive virtual floristry masterclass courtesy of Master Florist, Michal Kowalski, from Blooming Haus.

Blooming Haus started with a small pop-up shop in Chelsea.  They have since blossomed spectacularly on to the floristry scene as ‘floral engineers’, carving themselves an outstanding reputation as one of the UK’s most innovative floral design studios. The company is the vision of Master Florist, Michal Kowalski and his business partner, Michael Dariane. The pair bring a completely fresh approach to floristry and their ambition to push the boundaries of traditional floristry has laid the foundations of Blooming Haus’ success to date.
