Activities at Hurstwood View Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Lisa Everson

Activities Coordinator & Speak Up Champion

I’m Lisa, Activities Coordinator here at Hurstwood View.

I’ve been working at Hurstwood View in varying departments since 2017, shortly after the birth of my second child. With a strong background in Marketing, events, and community engagement - Activities is a great fit for me! I love arranging events and making a difference to our residents’ day.  I’ve never danced so much since working here, no day is ever the same, and we really do have so much fun!

Christmas Tree Festival

Residents enjoyed our local Christmas Tree Festival – especially all the light displays!

Elf Day

We raised money for the Alzheimer's Society by holding a tombola, a quiz, elf bingo and dressing up in our best elf outfits. Fun was had by all and the day was finished with a choir performance.

Autumn Sunshine

We have been making the most of the last of the sunshine by getting outside as much as possible. We recently went to the local garden centre to purchase plants for our outside terrace. We then embraced the sunshine and got busy the next day planting up our raised beds ready for the winter months.

Stavertons Garden Centre

Stavertons Garden Centre

We went on an afternoon outing to Stavertons Garden Centre, which is nice and local to us,. We all enjoyed a walk round and loved looking at the flowers and statues they had there. We had a lovely browse and some people even bought a couple of plants to go outside their bedroom and apartment. Unfortunately, they didn’t have a café though!

Colouring Therapy

Colouring Therapy

We spent a Saturday moring doing some colouring therapy. Residents chose a picture that they liked the best, sat back and listed to some music.

Tea for All!

Tea for All!

We had a morning of tea tasting in the cafe and got to taste lots of different flavours of tea, including camomile, green, peppermint and lemon & ginger. Our favourite was the raspberry and pomegranate, as it was quite sweet!
