Activities at Hurstwood View Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Lisa Everson
I’m Lisa, Activities Coordinator here at Hurstwood View.
I’ve been working at Hurstwood View in varying departments since 2017, shortly after the birth of my second child. With a strong background in Marketing, events, and community engagement - Activities is a great fit for me! I love arranging events and making a difference to our residents’ day. I’ve never danced so much since working here, no day is ever the same, and we really do have so much fun!

Life at Hurstwood View Care Home
1066 Falconry
We had 1066 Falconry bring in some owls for the residents to make a fuss over. They did a presentation and we all got to stroke and hold the owls. They also brought the owls round to the residents' rooms for those who are less mobile.
The Hurstwood Library
We now have a library, which is all set up in our café area for the residents to freely pop in and use!
Weald on the Field
We got out in the community by attending a local event called ‘Weald on the Field’. We had a tombola to raise money for residents' fund, and were keen to inform people about our lovely home. We even had the honour of the Mayor popping by to say hello and try his luck at winning a bottle.
Feline Friends
We went to the cat protection centre that's local to us and were very tempted to bring the white one home, but thought we would come for another visit in the future instead.
Get Growing
We set off to the local garden centre to buy some new flowers and spoke to some keen gardeners who advised us on what to buy for different places around the home.
Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare
We went to Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare for the day. It was really sunny out; warm but not too hot. We fed the ducks, chickens and geese, which was really enjoyable; they were all so noisy and wanted more food! We saw some rabbits, horses, dogs, donkeys, parrots, alpacas and goats. We then enjoyed a lovely picnic whilst watching the gliders go overhead. We took the scene route home on the bus. A lovely day was had by all!
