Activities at Kingsland House Care Home

Kingsland House have a variety of activities that our residents help us choose. Celebrating Life in our home is jovial and fun and from our weekly delivered activity sheet, our residents can chose exactly what they want to join in with.

Our activities range from exercise classes, gardening, arts and crafts, games to food-fun clubs. We also offer our in house church services, our own home cinema, our mobile pub - The Kingsland Tavern, visiting Pat Dogs, musical entertainers, minibus outings, theme days and birthday celebrations. For those residents being nursed in their rooms we have one to one activities sessions.

At Kingsland House we believe that activities are hugely important to stimulate and uplift, and getting to know our residents interests and lifestyle choices assist our activities team in creating events and activities to suit their expressed wishes and capabilities. We also encourage our residents' families and friends to join in with as much as they can to make Kingsland House a loving family atmosphere.

Mo Clark

Activities coordinator

I've been at Kingsland House as the Activities  Coordinator since April 2024 having previously worked in a similar role since 2020.

My previous experience has been in working as a carer and air bnb host,   corporate finance and project management for many years.  This is my most rewarding role to date and I am passionate about working with the elderly.

I love the variety of each day, getting to know and share in the lives of our residents.  The commitment and support of Barchester enables us to deliver activities and outings that go above and beyond to support and celebrate life which makes the difference to our residents wellbeing and happiness.

Nutrition and Hydration week

As part of Nutrition and Hydration Week here at Kingsland House we are creating daily mocktails to sample and today we were very pleased with our peanut butter smoothie. We are very excited to sample the rest of the weeks creations as well as hosting our very own tea party, as part of the Global Tea party celebrations on Wednesday.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Our residents at Kingsland House had a lovely morning welcoming families to raise money for Macmillan coffee morning. It was wonderful to catch up while raising money for a fantastic charity.

Happy Valentine’s Day

Love and friendship were in the air as we celebrated Valentine’s Day with chocolate covered strawberries and heart shaped shortbread. There was also a glass of bubbly for a lovely resident who was also celebrating her birthday.

Magic Table

We were excited to try out our amazing Magic Table on the floor rather than the table where we usually play it. We found many different and creative ways of using it, including wiping up leaves and playing football. We all had a great time.

Big Garden Birdwatch

Here at Kingsland House we celebrated the Big Garden Birdwatch weekend by starting off with a quiz and learning lots of interesting facts about all types of birds. Then we went out to our beautiful gardens to see if we could spot any. After topping up our bird feeders we were pleasantly surprised with a couple of ‘loved up’ wood pigeons and several blue tits using them.

Celebrating International Flower Day

Here at Kingsland House we love our freshly arranged weekly flowers, so International Flower Day was a perfect excuse to put our expertise to the test and to arrange some beautiful flower displays for all to enjoy.
