Activities at Lawton Rise Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Lawton Rise Care Home

Tripping the light fantastic!

Lighting up time got a whole new meaning at Lawton Rise as the community came together to see the home’s Christmas lights switched on for the very first time this Christmas.

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Lawton Rise care home, in Golden Hill, Stoke on Trent, got in the Christmas spirit by inviting the community to come and join in with staff and residents who all gathered in the home’s garden for the occasion.

There was mulled wine, hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows along with lots of other Christmas treats all prepared by Second chef, Kelly Deery to keep everyone warm.  The Christmas tree and all the lights looked amazing when the home’s Acting General Manager, Clare Dudley, flicked the switch for the big reveal.

Elf strikes again!

Well Ralph has tried to steal the presents yesterday, and even tried a disguise, but nothing gets past us!!!, however, Ralph was rumbled in her tracks and we managed to save the presents for the light switch on.

Ralph is so mischievous and always thinking of ways to cause trouble.  We will not let Ralph win, everyday we are on the look out.

Virtual trip to the Donkey Sanctuary

Across our services, Residents enjoyed a fantastic virtual tour of the Donkey Sanctuary Manchester.  Residents were thrilled to meet the lovely herd of donkeys, including Henry and his best friend Tiny Tim and to learn more about their every day care.  They were introduced to the sanctuary’s work and the impact they make to the lives of donkeys in need worldwide.  The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.

Birthday celebrations

Happy 60th Birthday, to the one and only Val Smith. Lawton Rise’s very own, home trainer.  All the staff would like to send their best wishes on your fabulous mile stone.  Many thanks for all your support throughout the year, sending you lots of love on your birthday

Lest we forget

Today at Lawton rise we have paid our respects to those fallen soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty. On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, we remained silent a tradition of King George V, to honour those that have served and remain to serve for our country.

15-years Long Service

Today we celebrated 15 years service for one of our dedicated care team members, Sharon shows compassion and empathy everyday to our residents at Lawton Rise. We would all like to congratulate Sharon Potts on her 15 yrs service.

Well done Sharon!
