Activities at Leonard Lodge Care Home
Our activities team offer a wide range of social events, from the very popular Friday morning bingo, to gentle exercise sessions, skittles, regular animal visits and arts & crafts sessions. We are fortunate to have a team of volunteers who stop by weekly to provide additional support, allowing residents the opportunity for one-to-one sessions. These sessions could include anything, even something as simple as playing a game of Scrabble or just having a cup of tea and a chat. We believe that it is essential to support people in such a way that they are able to continue to live full and happy lives doing the things that they enjoy.
Lynn Amiri
My name is Lynn and I lead the Activities Team here at Leonard Lodge.
Since working at Leonard Lodge I have dedicated myself to ensuring that each of our residents can continue to partake in the hobbies that they have enjoyed for years. It is important that all of the residents here have access to life enriching, fun and social activities.
The whole home supports my team and I to organise activities, events and entertainment tailored to every residents preferences, abilities and needs. Each year we have a fantastically full calendar, and we look forward to the future when we can invite the families of residents to join us in the home again.
I am married with two children and two rather annoying rescue cats. I lived in Italy for a number of years and love all Italian food, especially when somebody else cooks it for me! I love to read, especially crime novels. I am a regular theatre goer with a passion for musicals. I like to sing and dance (albeit badly!).

Life at Leonard Lodge Care Home
Music Concerts From The Comfort Of Your Favourite Chair
At Leonard Lodge our Activities Coordinators create activities calendars full of live music. Music brings us together and it is one of the cornerstones of our life enrichment programme.
This week we enjoyed hosting Ray Leonard as he serenaded us in one of the entertainment lounges. We thoroughly enjoyed Ray's visit and we are looking forward to hosting him again soon.
Out And About
This week we got out and about in the trusty mini-bus and visited Hunters Chase Garden Centre and stopped in at Bonnies cafè Hutton - their cake selection was amazing!
We love getting out and about together, especially whilst the weather has been getting better and better. We have a range of trips and days out planned for the next few months as the weather improves and the summer gets started.
Mother's Day Fun
We love to celebrate all the mothers who live with us at Leonard Lodge. This year we hosted an afternoon tea party in the garden. The weather was kind enough to cooperate and our talented kitchen team out did themselves with the cakes!
Puppy Therapy
The always brilliant team from Performing Pets visited with puppies this week!
We are always pleased to see the Performing Pets team and their wonderful animals, but if we are honest puppies are our favourite!
School Art Competition
Leonard Lodge have teamed up with St Joseph’s The Worker Catholic Primary School for a Mother’s Day themed art competition.
Residents of Leonard Lodge have been judging the wonderful artwork from the talented pupils of St Joseph’s school.
The art competition began with an idea to build links between the care home and the local schools. The competition involved pupils drawing portraits of their mothers and for residents from Leonard Lodge to choose winners from each age group category.
On Thursday the Activities team from Leonard Lodge along with resident Eileen, visited St Josephs and took part in their first school assembly since the Covid pandemic began. Eileen presented winning pupils with chocolate Easter Eggs donated by Leonard Lodge. In return the school children donated a beautiful floral heart for the residents to hang in the reception lounge.
Eileen, resident at the home said: “The children were very well behaved and some are very good artists. I enjoyed it immensely!”
Floral Design Session
We spent a wonderful afternoon enjoying a floral design session with Sara.
Sara was able to share her favourite designs, tips and techniques and we all got hands-on to create beautiful spring bouquets for the home. The residents love decorating with flower arrangements of their own design.
