Activities at Leonard Lodge Care Home
Our activities team offer a wide range of social events, from the very popular Friday morning bingo, to gentle exercise sessions, skittles, regular animal visits and arts & crafts sessions. We are fortunate to have a team of volunteers who stop by weekly to provide additional support, allowing residents the opportunity for one-to-one sessions. These sessions could include anything, even something as simple as playing a game of Scrabble or just having a cup of tea and a chat. We believe that it is essential to support people in such a way that they are able to continue to live full and happy lives doing the things that they enjoy.
Lynn Amiri
My name is Lynn and I lead the Activities Team here at Leonard Lodge.
Since working at Leonard Lodge I have dedicated myself to ensuring that each of our residents can continue to partake in the hobbies that they have enjoyed for years. It is important that all of the residents here have access to life enriching, fun and social activities.
The whole home supports my team and I to organise activities, events and entertainment tailored to every residents preferences, abilities and needs. Each year we have a fantastically full calendar, and we look forward to the future when we can invite the families of residents to join us in the home again.
I am married with two children and two rather annoying rescue cats. I lived in Italy for a number of years and love all Italian food, especially when somebody else cooks it for me! I love to read, especially crime novels. I am a regular theatre goer with a passion for musicals. I like to sing and dance (albeit badly!).

Life at Leonard Lodge Care Home
Remembrance Day Preparations
Residents, their families and staff all came together to make these lovely poppies for our Rememberance Day exhibition. Residents contributed their stories from WW2 to make this a personal and poignant memorial.
The stories ranged from Molly, whose Danish family had to change their surname due to anti-foreign feelings to Rosemary, who worked on Lancaster bombers; to Grace, who was on searchlights, and Alan, who worked on troop transport planes in India.
This activity really brought home to all of us the debt we owe these people, and how lucky we are to be able to spend time with them.
World Food Day
We celebrated World Food Day by inviting staff to cook us their national dishes. There was a wide array of food from around the world, including dishes we had never heard of, but we agreed it was all delicious and we will be round for dinner next.
Halloween Celebrations
We held a spooktacular Halloween party featuring bloodcurdling Billy Blue Rondon on guitar entertaining everyone who attended. Residents and staff got dressed up for the occasion. It was creepy, but fun!
Birthday Celebrations
To celebrated a resident's birthday, Chelmsford College student, Natasha, joined us to decorate some cakes. The results were fantastic and the cake was very tasty.
Ball Games
Residents enjoyed ball games in the lounge using the conversation prompting ball. They were amused that there was writing on the ball and interested in choosing subjects to discuss in between games.
Flamenco Dancers
We were pleased to welcome flamenco dancers, Michelle and Sam, into our home. The various costumes worn were very eye-catching and the dancing was superb, bringing back memories of holidays in Spain for many of the residents and staff as well. The ladies even had time for a cup of tea and a chat with residents after the performance and we all agreed it was a fun afternoon.
