Activities at Lethen Park Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Amanda McCarthy

Activities Coordinator

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends

Life at Lethen Park Care Home

National Trust talk

We had a fantastic time joining National Trust Talks Service team at Cliveden House for an inspirational talk on Nancy Astor – the first woman to take a seat in the House of Commons.

Our residents had the opportunity to learn more about the fascinating life of Nancy and her political career. As the first women MP, she experienced both attention and scandal throughout her life, which led to many triumphs and numerous disasters.

The talk was truly enjoyed by all.

Creating posies with florist

We had a lovely time joining Sue and Nicole from Ferndown Florist for an intriguing flower arrangement workshop in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Our residents enjoyed a wonderful virtual demonstration and got inspired to create their own flower posies for our Jubilee displays.

Our home was specially decorated for the Jubilee festivities and we all had a great time!

Jubilee celebrations fit for a Queen!

We marked the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in style with fantastic activities and royal parties.

In recognition of the special occasion, we decorated our home with bunting, beautiful flower displays and themed royal items, including flags and printed photos of the Queen through the years and iconic royal landmarks, like Windsor Castle.

During the Jubilee weekend, our residents enjoyed a variety of sensory sessions and fun-filled activities made their own thank you cards watched the national celebrations on the TV; enjoyed refreshing royal drinks with snacks.

To make things even more interesting, we’ve hosted our very own Royal Party; Jubilee Street Party, Big Jubilee Lunch etc, where community members, families and friends were invited. Everyone enjoyed delicious sweet and savoury treats, prepared by our talented chef and his team, along with tasty peach ice tea mocktails. The event was a big success.

Our festivities were fantastic and everyone was thrilled to celebrate the longest serving British monarch in style.

Lethen Park Garden Project

Activities Coordinator, Amanda and residents have been spending time over the weekend getting out garden ready for our Jubilee Garden Party this week.

We have been planting and potting around our gardens and the bright colours are really starting to take shape and brighten up our gardens!

We can't wait to celebrate with residents, staff and Families this week!

Eyes Down

We had a fun filled afternoon at Lethen Park with our weekly game of Bingo.

As well as helping to keep our residents minds active, Bingo is a great way to promote socialisation and engagement.

We look forward to playing again next week and seeing who our winners will be!

Virtual event with Graham Whitlock

We had a lovely time joining Graham Whitlock for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘The Crystal Palace Chronicles: Star of Nimrod’.

Our residents were thrilled to find out more about the book and the fictional character Joe, who went on a rollercoaster adventure travelling back in time to the heyday of Victorian Crystal Palace.

Everyone had lots of fun during the virtual talk, as Graham took them on a clever and hilarious adventure.

A great time was had by all.
