Activities at Lindum House Care Home
Our fantastic Activities Coordinators make sure that there is a full programme of social events to suit all interests and capabilities. They aim to not only to stimulate, but to ensure that everyone involved has lots of fun. We enjoy trips out visiting local places of interest or just to explore, which inevitably ends up with us having a lovely lunch somewhere.
There are regular concerts that we hold in the home that allows us to have a good old singalong, and our community links include the local churches, knit and natter groups and toddler groups coming in to see residents.
On a daily basis, everyone enjoys a variety of activities, including quizzes, bingo, arts and crafts, reminiscing and movement to music. We also host movie afternoons on the big screen which, of course, involves popcorn and ice cream at the interval!
Any residents who are unable to join us in the communal areas for activities have one-to-one time in their rooms, with us either reading to them, chatting or anything else they wish to do that’s within their capabilities.
Kelly Rolph
Hi there, I'm Kelly. My role at Lindum House ensures all of our residents always have lots of fun activities to look forward too.
I grew up down south, my parents worked in news trade & I've lived in many places! I've lived in hull for 20 years now, worked in health and social care for around 15 years, I started on care, worked through domestic, kitchen assistant and found my calling with activities!
I'm a super social person, enjoy being busy and sing in my spare time. I am part of a small singing charity group 'guise & gals'. I've been singing karaoke since I was 18 but never had the confidence to take it any further. I do, however, love putting on a show for our residents!
I'm a strong believer in 'treat people how you wish to be treated' everyone is different and it's important to focus on each individuals wants and needs, to encourage and nurture life, you only live once!
I'm full of energy, providing there is music... it's good for my soul!
Our residents smiles are my reward, it makes me so happy to see them enjoying them selves.

Life at Lindum House Care Home
Swinging around in the park!
On Monday 16th September, Staff and residents from Barchester’s Lindum House care home, in Beverley had a fantastic time visiting their local park, where they all enjoyed a spin on the roundabout and some enjoyed the swings!
The weather was beautiful, with a blue sky and the sun shining, activities staff & residents, all took a stroll to the local park, where they reminisced about their childhoods.
Some residents had a go on the wheel-chair friendly roundabout, whilst others relived the joy of the swings. Activities staff said “The smiles and laughter make it so worthwhile”
Fish & chips by the sea
Thursdays are now our ‘Trip Thursday’. On Thursday the 12th & 19th September, Staff and residents from Barchester’s Lindum House care home, in Beverley had a fantastic time visiting Hornsea sea front where they all enjoyed a stroll along the sea front, fish & chips and arcades to finish.
Residents and staff had a brilliant time. We all began with a stroll along the sea front, taking in the fresh sea air & pure beauty. Then popped into Sullivans, whom were great at accommodating us and enjoyed our fish & chip lunches. Short stroll around to the arcade, where we all enjoyed the 2p & 10p machines.
One of our residents said: “We have all had the most wonderful time visiting Hornsea. It is so lovely to be able to visit places like this, It’s been years since I last came, hasn’t changed much, but I used to visit weekly with the kids.”
Cornish Seal Sanctuary
A big thank you to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary for the fantastic live virtual event today!
Residents across our services loved seeing the seals up close and learning about the incredible work the sanctuary does to protect them and other wildlife in Cornwall as well.
Everyone truly enjoyed the experience.
Such a Purrr-fect Day
On Thursday the 8th August Staff had a purr-fect afternoon with our Feline Loving Residents, at Lindum House care home in Beverley. We celebrated International Cat Day with a visit from Julie and her 2 lovely Ragdolls, Sophia and Gabriel, along with a feline quiz and songs from the musical Cat’s playing in the background.
It really was wonderful to watch both residents and staff so engaged and interacting with these beautiful creatures.
Sophia and Gabriel were so perfectly behaved that in fact, the residents were able to cuddle and give treats to them, whilst they curled up on knees and properly made themselves at home.
Our activities team here at Lindum house, would like to extend a massive thanks to Julie for bringing her perfect pets in for a show and tell, we honestly can’t thank you enough for the Joy these two little kitties brought with them.
Our Residents shared memories of their own pets throughout the years, one of our residents said “Aww, they are adorable, I’ve always got room on my knee for a kitty”
Surprise it’s Our Kelly
A wonderful afternoon was had by all at Lindum house, Beverley; when Kelly Rolph (our activities coordinator) & her partner Steve Cochran came to visit as a duet on Friday 2nd August.
Kelly is full of fun with a beautiful voice and lively personality, its safe to say she’s a real hit with our residents. Kelly was on annual leave but, wanting to surprise her residents, she scheduled herself in as a free act with her partner. Kelly had the residents thoroughly engaged and interacting with her from the moment they arrived.
Steve & Kelly sang an array of old classics to a couple of more modern tunes, their youngest son also joined them right at the end; he sang a tune too!
One of our residents said “It really was wonderful to see them all singing as a family & that girl has such an amazing voice, she’s kept that well-hidden, we’re very lucky to have her as our activities coordinator, she should be on a stage”.
Kelly said “Residents & staff were all singing along and moving to the music, it was so wonderful to see everyone having such a great time, I just love to be able to share my love for music with everyone, it really lifts me up to see them all enjoying their selves”.
