Activities at Lindum House Care Home
Our fantastic Activities Coordinators make sure that there is a full programme of social events to suit all interests and capabilities. They aim to not only to stimulate, but to ensure that everyone involved has lots of fun. We enjoy trips out visiting local places of interest or just to explore, which inevitably ends up with us having a lovely lunch somewhere.
There are regular concerts that we hold in the home that allows us to have a good old singalong, and our community links include the local churches, knit and natter groups and toddler groups coming in to see residents.
On a daily basis, everyone enjoys a variety of activities, including quizzes, bingo, arts and crafts, reminiscing and movement to music. We also host movie afternoons on the big screen which, of course, involves popcorn and ice cream at the interval!
Any residents who are unable to join us in the communal areas for activities have one-to-one time in their rooms, with us either reading to them, chatting or anything else they wish to do that’s within their capabilities.
Kelly Rolph
Hi there, I'm Kelly. My role at Lindum House ensures all of our residents always have lots of fun activities to look forward too.
I grew up down south, my parents worked in news trade & I've lived in many places! I've lived in hull for 20 years now, worked in health and social care for around 15 years, I started on care, worked through domestic, kitchen assistant and found my calling with activities!
I'm a super social person, enjoy being busy and sing in my spare time. I am part of a small singing charity group 'guise & gals'. I've been singing karaoke since I was 18 but never had the confidence to take it any further. I do, however, love putting on a show for our residents!
I'm a strong believer in 'treat people how you wish to be treated' everyone is different and it's important to focus on each individuals wants and needs, to encourage and nurture life, you only live once!
I'm full of energy, providing there is music... it's good for my soul!
Our residents smiles are my reward, it makes me so happy to see them enjoying them selves.

Life at Lindum House Care Home
Resident realises dream
At Lindum House, we don’t just aim to keep our residents comfortable, but to make real improvements to quality of life and wellbeing. One resident we have been sad to see leave but also proud to see go home is Pete. Pete came to us after suffering a stroke and after a lengthy period in hospital he came to us in April 2023. He came to us very poorly and bed bound.
We wanted to help Pete achieve his goal of getting home and getting his independence back, so the whole team have worked to understand his personality, meet his needs and make measurable improvements to his health and wellbeing. On Sunday the 21st July 2024 Pete was able to achieve his aim and go home with his wife Diane, able to self-transfer.
Garden of the Year
Lindum has been crowned ‘Garden of the Year’ for the North NE Division in the Barchester Care Awards 2024 and is through to the national round of judging. The Barchester Care Awards celebrate the staff who go the extra mile for the benefit of the 13,000 residents living in Barchester’s 261 care homes and private hospitals across the country. Categories range from ‘Registered Nurse of the Year’ and ‘Carer of the Year’ to ‘Dementia Care Champion’ and ‘Activities Coordinator of the Year’.
Over 5,000 nominations were received from homes and hospitals across the UK. All entries were a very high standard and Lindum House is over the moon to have been named the winner for ‘Garden of the Year’, beating hundreds of other nominees.
U3A Ukulele group 2 pay a visit
A fabulous afternoon was had by all at Lindum House when the community group, U3A Ukulele group 2, came to visit recently.
U3A is a UK-wide movement of locally-run ukulele groups providing a wide range of opportunities to come together to learn for fun exploring new ideas. We at Lindum have been fortunate enough to have been made aware of the ‘Hull’ U3A groups, from a resident visiting family member, whom also plays for U3A group 1, whom visited last year.
When U3A group 2 entered the building, one of our residents got rather excited. We all enjoyed their performance, there was much joy & happiness whilst some just sat and listened, others danced.
Cook Off 2024
Staff and residents are celebrating because their wonderful Managing Director, Fiona Fagan, from Barchester’s North East and Scotland Division, has stepped completely out of her comfort zone to compete in the Barchester Charitable Foundation Cook Off 2024.
Fiona went head-to-head with the Managing Directors from Barchester’s four other divisions and cooked up a storm to raise a phenomenal £24,595 for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation which helps connect vulnerable people and those living with a disability to community groups in their local area by providing grants to improve mobility and quality of life. Each year the Foundation distributes thousands of pounds to individuals, small community groups and charities across England, Scotland and Wales.
A Visit from Safe’N’Sound Nursery
Residents and staff at Lindum House care home in Beverley experienced a morning of joy when the nursery children came to visit.
The nursery children visit Lindum house every Wednesday morning at 11am for 30 mins. Lindum’s activity coordinator always sets the scene with nursery rhymes playing on the tv and lots of classic games, for the residents to engage with the children.
Our residents always enjoy these sessions, A few have built lovely relationships with certain children and it’s been wonderful to see these blossom. We actually really enjoyed playing bowels, golf and hoopla in the gardens also.
Some of the residents went outside to play, whilst others remained in the lounge. However it was clear to see the social intergenerational interaction was phenomenal.
Brian now regularly plays magnetic darts with a couple of the boys. Margery always comments “It’s just so wonderful, the joy they bring with them. I could just sit and watch them for hours”. Lilian’s daughter Kaye often brings Violet her granddaughter and she has become a great little helper, She gets really involved with everyone. Other residents enjoy playing Connect four, Fishing, ball in the bin and many more, it really is such an energetic & joyful visit.
Fun in the Sun with Tigers Trust
Staff and residents at Lindum House care home in Beverley really enjoyed their second session with ‘Forever Tigers’.
The sun was shining, so we all went outside to sit in our beautiful gardens, whilst the Tigers trust entertained us with a football quiz and taught us how to play bowels.
It was a pleasure to see everyone engaging and joining in, such joy and happiness on a beautiful day.
Forever Tigers aims to increase engagement with the football club and tackle loneliness and isolation, predominantly with the elderly. The project uses memorabilia and heritage which celebrates the history of hull city, to encourage people to talk to one and other and socialize together.
