Activities at Lindum House Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Our fantastic Activities Coordinators make sure that there is a full programme of social events to suit all interests and capabilities. They aim to not only to stimulate, but to ensure that everyone involved has lots of fun. We enjoy trips out visiting local places of interest or just to explore, which inevitably ends up with us having a lovely lunch somewhere.

There are regular concerts that we hold in the home that allows us to have a good old singalong, and our community links include the local churches, knit and natter groups and toddler groups coming in to see residents.

On a daily basis, everyone enjoys a variety of activities, including quizzes, bingo, arts and crafts, reminiscing and movement to music. We also host movie afternoons on the big screen which, of course, involves popcorn and ice cream at the interval!

Any residents who are unable to join us in the communal areas for activities have one-to-one time in their rooms, with us either reading to them, chatting or anything else they wish to do that’s within their capabilities.

Kelly Rolph

Activities Co-ordinator

Hi there, I'm Kelly. My role at Lindum House ensures all of our residents always have lots of fun activities to look forward too.

I grew up down south, my parents worked in news trade & I've lived in many places! I've lived in hull for 20 years now, worked in health and social care for around 15 years, I started on care, worked through domestic, kitchen assistant and found my calling with activities!

I'm a super social person, enjoy being busy and sing in my spare time. I am part of a small singing charity group 'guise & gals'. I've been singing karaoke since I was 18 but never had the confidence to take it any further. I do, however, love putting on a show for our residents!

I'm a strong believer in 'treat people how you wish to be treated' everyone is different and it's important to focus on each individuals wants and needs, to encourage and nurture life, you only live once!

I'm full of energy, providing there is music... it's good for my soul!

Our residents smiles are my reward, it makes me so happy to see them enjoying them selves.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Lindum House Care Home

Trip to Albies Bar

Massive thanks to Albies Bar for a fantastic ‘Golden Oldies’ social afternoon. We all enjoyed a drink, pub snacks and good 'old skool' Singalong & boogie.

Our Residents have enjoyed it so much, there eager for the next visit.

Master Florist tutorial

Across our homes we had a fantastic time joining, Kathryn Delve, Master Florist, for a Valentine’s-inspired live virtual flower arranging demonstration. Kathryn shared brilliant and creative ways to decorate our tables with beautiful flowers that are sure to make your heart swoon!

Those participating in this virtual event put their skills to the test and followed along with some amazing creations of their own.  Residents truly enjoyed the experience.

Medical Detection Dogs

Across our services residents had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Emilia from Medical Detection Dogs.

Emilia took us on a journey to discover how the organisation began training dogs to support people with complex health conditions, saving their lives on a daily basis.

Using their amazing sense of smell, these dogs can identify odour changes emitted prior an episode and alert the person to take preventative action.

We were introduced to the wonderful dogs and the science behind the sniff.  It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our canine-loving residents.

National Flower Day!

Residents took part in flower-based activities throughout the day including a flower arranging competition. Residents reminisced about the gardens they have kept throughout the years, which everyone really enjoyed.  Their collective knowledge about flowers gained from years of gardening experience was very impressive.

Jayne Clarke, General Manager at Lindum House said: “Our residents love to get involved in maintaining our well stocked gardens and to watch the different flowers grow throughout each season. With the lack of flowers at the moment it was great to see them getting involved in some flower arranging. The colours and smells were beautiful”

B.I.N.G.O

Our residents just love a good old fashioned game of bingo - with great prizes to be won for a line, 2 lines and a full house it was a competitive afternoon.

We discussed our resident's past wins at the bingo throughout the years over tea and coffee after all of the numbers had been called - the stories our residents have to tell are very interesting and sharing them is a great way for them to get to know each other.

King of Rock and Roll

Elvis visited Lindum House to celebrate what would have been his 89th birthday.

Residents enjoyed a visit from a local impersonator - we sang, tapped and waved our pom-poms along to the classic songs of The King.

We shared memories of our favourite songs of his and a couple of our Residents have actually been to Graceland in Memphis.
