Activities at Lindum House Care Home
Our fantastic Activities Coordinators make sure that there is a full programme of social events to suit all interests and capabilities. They aim to not only to stimulate, but to ensure that everyone involved has lots of fun. We enjoy trips out visiting local places of interest or just to explore, which inevitably ends up with us having a lovely lunch somewhere.
There are regular concerts that we hold in the home that allows us to have a good old singalong, and our community links include the local churches, knit and natter groups and toddler groups coming in to see residents.
On a daily basis, everyone enjoys a variety of activities, including quizzes, bingo, arts and crafts, reminiscing and movement to music. We also host movie afternoons on the big screen which, of course, involves popcorn and ice cream at the interval!
Any residents who are unable to join us in the communal areas for activities have one-to-one time in their rooms, with us either reading to them, chatting or anything else they wish to do that’s within their capabilities.
Kelly Rolph
Hi there, I'm Kelly. My role at Lindum House ensures all of our residents always have lots of fun activities to look forward too.
I grew up down south, my parents worked in news trade & I've lived in many places! I've lived in hull for 20 years now, worked in health and social care for around 15 years, I started on care, worked through domestic, kitchen assistant and found my calling with activities!
I'm a super social person, enjoy being busy and sing in my spare time. I am part of a small singing charity group 'guise & gals'. I've been singing karaoke since I was 18 but never had the confidence to take it any further. I do, however, love putting on a show for our residents!
I'm a strong believer in 'treat people how you wish to be treated' everyone is different and it's important to focus on each individuals wants and needs, to encourage and nurture life, you only live once!
I'm full of energy, providing there is music... it's good for my soul!
Our residents smiles are my reward, it makes me so happy to see them enjoying them selves.

Life at Lindum House Care Home
Classical performance
Today at Lindum House we had a lovely relaxing afternoon listening to the wonderful duo Judith and Micheal playing classical music. We listened to various pieces of music and songs such as Danny Boy and Edelweiss.
Resident Dorothy said "it was lovely listening to the music and was very relaxing. I thoroughly enjoyed it."
Resident Pete said " Im not a big fan of classical but that was fantastic."
Games with a twist
This morning at Lindum House we had exercise with Oomph on demand then after lunch we played hangman with a twist. The game is played as hangman and the twist being its all sing along songs. We sang and danced to jailhouse rock, sweet Caroline, fly me to the moon and many more of our favourites.
Resident Doreen said " what an enjoyable day ive loved the sing along it makes me so happy".
Resident June said " ive danced so many times to jailhouse rock. It has brought back some good memories."
Long service celebrated
Congratulations to Donna Davison for achieving 20 years service at Lindum House. Donna has worked in the laundry since she started at the age of 19.
Donna received a bouquet of flowers along with a nice amount in gift vouchers and her 20 year pin. Well done Donna from all the staff and the residents here at Lindum House. You are a valued member of the team.
Seaside bound
Singing along to the sounds of Cliff Richard's classic 'We're all going on a summer holiday' the residents of Lindum House were seaside bound aboard our minibus. Destination Bridlington.
Our residents enjoyed the sunny and thankfully cooler conditions. With a lovely stroll along the seafront, we marveled at the tractor train ferrying holiday makers up and down the front of the promenade.
Our residents enjoyed a delicious and generous helping of fish and chips from a local restaurant, whilst reminiscing about past summer holidays on the coast, all before being treated to a variety of tasty ice creams for our journey home.
Opera performance
Our homes had a fabulous time with the talented soprano Astrid Joos from Street Theatre. Astrid spoke about a selection of famous operas and our residents were treated to performances of wonderful arias from operas well-known to all, such as ‘Giuditta’, ‘Don Giovanni’ and ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’.
It was a lovely experience, truly enjoyed by all.
Virtual event with Dr Tim Howard
Residents across our homes had a lovely time joining Dr Tim Howard, 4th generation GP, whose whole life has been about patient care, for an exciting virtual event to discuss his novel ‘Let’s Kill All The Lawyers’.
The novel is a medical fiction thriller that explores the impact of life and death events, mistakes and forgiveness, and the impact of law and justice on the day- to-day lives of ordinary people doing their best in difficult circumstances.
Residents had the chance to ask their own questions once the discussion was over and a great time was had by all.
