Activities at Llys-Y-Tywysog Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Paula Courtney
Hello I am Paula the Activities Coordinator, I have recently returned to Llys-Y-Tywysog. I worked at the home for over 5 years when my children were younger. My close connection with Llys remained as my father in law was former resident, so I was still visiting regularly. I am delighted to be back working with the team.
I am creative and hope to bring new ideas for activities and events as well as still running firm favourites! My passion is about enhancing the lives of the residents from individual time through to big celebratory events. Sarah will continue to work as part of the activities team, working alongside me part time whilst studying for her degree at Swansea University. As a team we are committed to Barchester's Life Enrichment programme ensuring we work with mind, body and soul.

Fish and Chips at Mumbles
It was a very momentous day for Llys-Y-Tywysog today. After a whole year, a bus trip was organised to the sights around Mumbles. The day trippers dined on a lunch of fish and chips! Such a wonderful day that will be one of many yet to come.
Toast to Queen on 95th Birthday
Llys-Y-Tywysog participated in a low key celebration for the Queen's Birthday. In yesterday's baking class a sponge cake was made and then today it was filled with jam and cream. The aromas were mouthwatering and was enjoyed at our tea party in the afternoon. A toast was raised to the Queen and there was a discussion about the Royal Family. Llys-Y-Tywysog wishes Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II a very Happy Birthday.
Arts and Crafts in the Sun
Residents took advantage of the sunny courtyard garden here at Llys-Y-Tywysog by taking part in some craft activities whilst enjoying afternoon tea. The team have been working hard to prepare the outside of the home ready for the warmer weather and the residents are so enjoying being able to sit outside and enjoy the space as well as the stunning array of colour in the raised beds.

My My My Delilah
It was another sunny day for welcoming a new singer/comedian, Jeff to perform at Llys-Y-Tywysog this week. His show comprised of various songs from 1960's, Tom Jones and Elvis. Everyone joined in by laughing, singing and playing musical instruments. There were some great jokes and we all sang along to Delilah, with all the staff and residents swaying to the music, such a wonderful afternoon for all.
King of Rock and Roll
Llys-Y-Tywysog welcomed entertainment back into our Home with the King of rock and roll. The one and only Elvis Presley performed a wonderful show from our outside patio. We all smiled, sang, clapped hands, swayed and danced to his songs. It was a relaxed, enjoyable, and social afternoon. Music engages areas of the brain which updates events in our memories, it was wonderful to watch everyone singing along.
