Activities at The Manor Care Home

Our activities staff are here 7 days a week and are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we care for in a group or individual basis. From trips to garden centres, the theatre, and flower shows to personal shopping and attending family events. We also love organising Christmas fairs, our famous classic car show, musicians, entertainment, and pizza and pint evenings. The team encourage families to visit and work closely with our volunteers to ensure that our residents social care is a priority, so that they have a fun filled and enriched stay whilst here at The Manor.

Marc Chidgey

Life Enrichment Lead

I have worked at The Manor since 2012, starting out as a kitchen assistant, where I replenished drinks and snacks and assisted in serving meals in communal areas. During this time, outside of the kitchen, I enjoyed meeting residents and took pleasure in seeing their engagement during activities. My interest in resident activities was evident, and I was offered the opportunity to transfer to the activities team.

I love to spend time with residents. I enjoy hearing their stories and finding out what activities interest them. I aim to keep them as active as possible, and my top priority is to instill fun and laughter at The Manor.

Christmas Fete

Our annual Christmas Fete was a roaring success with over 25 stalls varying from hand made arts and crafts, gifts, sweet treats, Christmas cards, a tombola and an extensive raffle with many prizes. We also enjoyed pigs in blankets, mulled wine, mince pies and hot chocolate!

Christmas Light Switch on

We decided to go all out with our Christmas Lights this year- we counted down from 5 and Father Christmas pressed the big red button to unveil the masterpiece. We had a competition running of how many lightbulbs are on display which was a whopping total of 4570!

Father Christmas visits the Manor

The Manor had a very important visitor at the weekend- all of our visiting children got to meet Father Christmas in his grotto...he even had an early Christmas present to give them!

Somerset Sight give us an information session at the Manor

Holly Sutton from the charity Somerset Sight kindly joined us to give us an information talk using aids and demonstrations to help us understand sight deterioration. Holly also assisted some of our residents with useful aids and resources to assist with everyday life.

A bit of cheese, wine and cider!

Residents, guests and the team at the Manor decided to have an artisan afternoon with a variety of cheeses, and a tipple of cider and wine. A fantastic afternoon enjoyed by everyone!

Bowling trip

We decided it was time for a bit of competition so the verdict was to get away from the rain and go bowling! A great game had by all- winning smiles all around!
