Activities at The Manor Care Home
Our activities staff are here 7 days a week and are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we care for in a group or individual basis. From trips to garden centres, the theatre, and flower shows to personal shopping and attending family events. We also love organising Christmas fairs, our famous classic car show, musicians, entertainment, and pizza and pint evenings. The team encourage families to visit and work closely with our volunteers to ensure that our residents social care is a priority, so that they have a fun filled and enriched stay whilst here at The Manor.
Marc Chidgey
I have worked at The Manor since 2012, starting out as a kitchen assistant, where I replenished drinks and snacks and assisted in serving meals in communal areas. During this time, outside of the kitchen, I enjoyed meeting residents and took pleasure in seeing their engagement during activities. My interest in resident activities was evident, and I was offered the opportunity to transfer to the activities team.
I love to spend time with residents. I enjoy hearing their stories and finding out what activities interest them. I aim to keep them as active as possible, and my top priority is to instill fun and laughter at The Manor.

Life at The Manor Care Home
Halloween at the Manor
What better way to celebrate Halloween other than ensuring our whole team is dressed for the occasion, here we have our kitchen team ready to serve our residents and visiting children Halloween themed buffet food. We had a Halloween afternoon tea party filled with Spooktacular treats!
Afternoon Tea at the Manor
We decided to host an afternoon tea at the Manor and open our doors to the local community to join us. Here we have resident Daphne with Deputy Manager Rachel and Care Assistant Alfie enjoying our afternoon tea in the bistro.
For Daphne this was the start of her celebrations with her birthday coming up in just a few days’ time.
Harvest Festival Donation
The Manor decided to celebrate Harvest Festival by donating a hamper to Taunton Food Bank with contributions from residents, families, friends and staff members.
Macmillan Coffee Morning
On Friday 27th September, we hosted a Macmillan Coffee Morning. A huge thank you to everyone who baked and donated some delicious cakes.
A big thank you to those who purchased the delightful treats on the day. We raised a grand total of £121.30! A very special thank you to June, Ann and Wendy for organising and helping with the sale of the cakes.
Little Visitors
We were pleased to welcome Bishops Hull First School for our annual Punch & Judy performance. Residents thoroughly enjoyed the show and took pleasure listening to the children’s laughter.
Sunflower Competition
The Manor residents were challenged by some family members to see who could grow the tallest sunflower. They managed to grow a whopping 8ft, 8 inch tall sunflower, and proudly took the winning prize!
