Activities at Marnel Lodge Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

I have worked with the elderly for more than forty years in various roles, gaining varied knowledge and experience. I have been a relative at Marnel Lodge for ten years and worked as an admin assistant for a year and a half. I have now taken on the exciting role of Activities Coordinator at Marnel Lodge and I am looking forward to working with the residents, families and the Marnel team to start some new activities and adventures.

Our Divisional Winner
Well done to Jo Shuck, who was named as a Divisional Winner in the Home Administration Champion category at the 2018 Barchester Care Awards.
Birthday Star
Peggy enjoyed being the star of Marnel Lodge for the day on her birthday. Residents joined in to sing 'Happy Birthday' and we all indulged in some birthday cake.
Name This Fruit
Residents enjoyed playing the 'Name This Fruit' game and eating fresh strawberries that were picked from our garden, and other fruits, such as blackberries, grapes and melons.
Bold Brush Strokes
Sheila recently enjoyed spending the afternoon painting at Marnel Lodge.
Summer Fête
Holly Green from Meridian TV opened our Mary Poppins-themed summer fête. Our General Manager helped Holly with the cutting of the ribbon, and we all had fun making a big fuss of the visiting farm animals, dressing up, and waiting in anticipation to find out who claimed the raffle prize. We raised over £700 and all had such a lovely time!
Summer Fashion Show
Friends of Marnel Lodge hosted a Summer Fashion show on our grounds, and residents really enjoyed seeing the wonderful outfits on a sunny afternoon.
