Activities at Marple Dale Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Lewis Timperley
Hi, my name is Lewis. I joined the team in September 2021 as a general assistant and then moved to the activities team in January 2022. Most recently I became Activities Team Leader in December 2023, it has been a great journey here at Marple Dale and can’t wait to continue. I love my role as one of the homes Activity Coordinators, and love finding out new and exciting ways to engage residents with activities and each other.
Here at Marple Dale we try to do as many different activities as we can, to keep our residents as active as possible, as it is so important to keep active. I love what I do and love knowing that our residents have so much enjoyment from such a wide variety of activities.

Life at Marple Dale Care Home
Residents enjoy a little flutter at the races!
Residents at Marple Dale had so much fun celebrating both National Beer day and start of Royal Ascot. The residents enjoyed a nice refreshing cold beer with the activities team also hosting the homes very own racing day with all the thrills of a day at the races. Residents even had a little flutter despite no-one having a clue about the odds but we were on the edge of our seats to see whose horse was going to win! Everyone was keen to secure a prize. It was a fun-filled day for all.
Residents enjoy tour of Hereford Cathedral
We had a lovely time joining the team from Hereford Cathedral for an exciting virtual session.
We enjoyed a glimpse of this spectacular building and its treasures in a series of short pre-recorded videos. From the stunning gardens which lead down to the River Wye, to the Mappa Mundi and Chained Library.
It was wonderful to learn more about the history and beauty of Hereford Cathedral.
Knowsley Safari Park
Here at Marple Dale were pleased to be able to dive into the wild safari life of Knowsley Safari and to enjoy an amazing live stream tour of the park’s grounds.
Our residents were smiling and laughing as they got up close and personal with some of the safari’s most popular animals, including giraffes and meerkats and much more!
We had a wonderful time learning more about the animals and enjoying some live feeding demonstrations.
A day at the beach.....
Residents at Marple Dale Care Centre had a lovely day on bank holiday Monday 31st may, they brought the seaside to their very own garden. Alison Davie Activities co-ordinator and the team of domestic and maintenance staff transformed their home into a beautiful beach for the day. Alison was inspired by the glorious weather and, whilst reminiscing, she created a fabulous afternoon filled with delights. Mouth-watering Cocktails and mock tails were to hand with lovely ice cream to celebrate the day. The residents joined in with activities such as, Badminton, paddling in the pool and getting sand between their toes. It was such a joyful afternoon and one resident called Sarah said “I had a lovely day and loved being in the pool again”. The moto is if we can’t go to the beach then the beach must come to us.
Blooming Haus floral event
Here at Marple Dale in Marple, we were delighted to spend time creating a beautiful floral masterpiece to enter the #BloomingBarchester competition in partnership with Blooming Haus following their amazing virtual flower arranging masterclass.
We all had a wonderful time decorating and working on our arrangement and we are happy to say we were impressed with our skills in applying all the tips and ideas learnt during the class to make a colourful floral design.
