Activities at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home
Barchy Breakfast - September
We continue to hold our monthly Barchy Breakfast on the first Wednesday of the month in conjunction with our Professionals' Breakfast Meeting.
On Wednesday 5th September, the kitchen whipped up a storm of a breakfast, which included croissants, bacon and sausage baps and much more.
Our next Professional Networking Breakfast/Barchy Breakfast will be held on Wednesday 3rd October at 8:00 a.m. All are welcome to join us!
Chaplain Service
Residents, their carers and staff were invited to a special service at Our Lady of Assumption at Bosham at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday 6th September, courtesy of the hospitality of the Catholic Parish of St Richard’s. We enjoyed a beautiful service, followed by quality refreshments.
Poet's Day
To celebrate Poet's Day on Tuesday 21st August, residents of Marriott Lodge wrote a poem called ‘One Bright Day', which you can read below:
One Bright Day
One bright sunny morning,
We went to the Seaside.
We started early as the day is dawning,
And to make the most of the lovely low tide!
We all set off in our Morris Minor,
En route to Blackpool sand.
Looking forward to a day in the sun,
Listening to out favorite band!
We unload the car, put sun cream on,
And make our way down to the shore.
We paddle in the sea and stop for ice cream
It’s so lovely I could have had more!
The gorgeous sunrays beaming down,
As I lie on my sun bed to tan.
As the days goes on the sun goes hot,
And I call myself down with a fan!
We’ve had our picnic and now we are full
And we make our way back to the car
We load up our bits and off we go
Setting off home; let’s hope it’s not far!
Musical Magic
Music for Health workshops are fun, stimulating and extremely varied – providing something for everyone. The music varies from workshop to workshop, keeping the event fresh, and residents are encouraged to participate from the start and progress at their own speed.
Music for the Mind
On Tuesday 21st August, we welcomed Becki Short, who hosted yet another 'Music for the Mind' workshop. Developed in partnership with Home Instead Havant, Music for the Mind is a programme designed specifically for those living with dementia and memory problems, but others can take part as well. Becki provided an hour of musical stimulation through gentle warm ups and stretches, familiar songs and musical instruments.
Think Quick!
We hosted another community quiz afternoon on Wednesday 15th August, and it was a big success, as always!
