Activities at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home

Our Sweetheart

Our Sweetheart

On Friday 23rd November, Betsy, visited the home to entertain us with a tribute show to English singer-songwriter, Dame Vera Lynn, widely known as the Force's Sweetheart. This show played tribute to her iconic songs such as 'We'll Meet Again', 'The Anniversary Waltz' and 'White Cliffs of Dover', which became the songs that helped keep morale high among troops and loved ones during World War 2.

Children in Need

Children in Need

On Friday 16th November, staff and residents dressed up in their pyjamas for the day to raise money for Children in Need.

Children in Need is the BBC's UK charity. Since 1980, it has raised over £950 million for disadvantaged children and young people in the UK. One of the highlights is an annual telethon, held in November and televised on BBC One and BBC Two, and the charity mascot, Pudsey Bear, is as well-known as legendary host, Sir Terry Wogan, who presented the telethon for 35 years.

This year, staff and residents at Marriott House and Lodge decided to wear their pyjamas for the day to do their part for Children in Need.

Honouring the Fallen

Honouring the Fallen

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, Marriott House and Lodge remembered those lost in conflict as part of our monthly service hosted by Cedar Ministry.

Residents, staff and visitors joined together for a special service from the Cedar Ministry team. At 11:00 a.m., everyone stood side-by-side to pay their respects to those lost or injured in conflict around the world by participating in the national two minutes silence.

Pub Outing

Pub Outing

The friendly construction team working on the refurbishment at Marriott House took resident, Alan, for a drink at the local pub after their shift. Alan had a wonderful time!

Musical Entertainment

Musical Entertainment

We had an amazing afternoon with Jodie Shemmans, which involved plenty of singalongs and even some impromptu dancing.

For the Love of Music

For the Love of Music

We welcomed Becki Short to Marriott for her Music for the Mind workshop. Developed in conjunction with Home Instead Havant, Music for the Mind is a programme designed specifically for those with dementia and memory problems, but anyone else is welcome to take part.

Becki provided an hour of musical stimulation through gentle warm-ups and stretches, familiar songs and musical instruments.
