Activities at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home

February Fruit Friday

February Fruit Friday

At Marriott House and Lodge, we hold a Fruity Friday event every month. Staff and residents dress in bright clothing and fruit-themed activities are organised. This month’s event took place on Friday 10th February, and in conjunction with Bramley Apple week, we held an apple-themed quiz and provided a range of apple juices for people to taste throughout the afternoon.

In the lead up to this day, the residents of Marriott House wrote a Fruity Friday poem:

Fruity Friday

On Fruity Friday,
We have planned a treat.
Listen to all this lovely fruit,
That we plan to eat.

Oranges, lemons,
apples and pears
All put together;
you’ll forget all you cares.

Some you slice,
Some you chew.
Eat too much,
And you’ll need the loo!

Bramley Apple Week

Bramley Apple Week

To celebrate Bramley Apple week, on 10th February the activities team helped the residents make Bramley Apple turnovers and apple cakes. This activity provoked lots of discussion about apple scrumping, baking and much more.

Flower Potting

Flower Potting

Following on from our trip to the Manor Nursery garden centre on Friday 20th January, residents of Marriott Lodge have been busy re-potting the plants that we purchased for the activities area in the Lodge. These have brightened up the home and the residents are enjoying looking after them and watching them grow!

National Chocolate Cake Day

National Chocolate Cake Day

On Friday 27th January, residents, visitors and staff enjoyed a chocolatey afternoon. Various types of chocolate cake were enjoyed by many!

Music for Health

Music for Health

Music for Health workshops are fun, stimulating and extremely varied - and provide something for everyone. The music is changed from workshop to workshop, keeping the attraction fresh. Residents are encouraged to participate from the start, but can progress at their own speed. Our most recent session took place on Wednesday 18th January.

Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year

In the lead up to Chinese New Year, residents made decorations that were used throughout the home. On 28th January, the kitchen made a Chinese-themed supper for everyone to enjoy.
