Activities at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Flower Arranging
On Saturday 21st January, residents at Marriott House & Lodge enjoyed a morning of flower arranging which were then displayed around the home for everyone to see. This will be a regular social activity within the home in the future.
Minibus to Manor Nursery
On Friday 20th January, we enjoyed our first trip out in the minibus to the Manor Nursery garden centre. We enjoyed coffee and refreshments before choosing some plants to bring back to the home.
January Birthday Tea
This month’s birthday tea was held in conjunction with National Winnie the Pooh Day and included a virtual trip through the world of Winnie the Pooh before everyone enjoyed birthday refreshments.
A Night at the Theatre
On Saturday 14th January 2017, Amy and Steph held a reminiscence session entitled ‘A Night at the Theatre’. The afternoon included a look at various musicals from the 1930s to present times, and included pictures, music and much more. This has become one of the residents' favourite social events and is going to be held regularly in the future.
Cooking Sessions
Every Friday morning, a regular group of residents meet and cook together. They discuss each week what they would like to cook and Elaine and Hilda help them by getting recipes and ingredients ready and then they begin the session. They also talk about the history of the recipe and reminisce about how individuals used to make it. Whatever is made is enjoyed by residents, staff and visitors alike. This week they decided to make bread and butter pudding!
