Activities at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home
New for November 2016
We have started our own choir and we hope to be able to sing to other residents, staff and visitors over the Christmas period. We practice every Wednesday afternoon in Marriott House. All are welcome to come along and join us!
November Barchy Breakfast
On Wednesday 16th November, the kitchen whipped up a storm of a breakfast that included roissants, bacon and sausage baps and much more. Residents and staff joined together for breakfast, which was enjoyed by all that attended!
This event now takes place on the 3rd Wednesday of the month and is open to anyone. If you would like further information, please contact Sarah Harding at Marriott House and Lodge on 01243 536652 or at sarah.harding@barchester.com.
November Team Quiz
On Friday 11th November, we held our monthly team quiz, which was as popular as ever! This month had a Remembrance Day theme and some general knowledge questions. The teams huddled together and competition was fierce during the question rounds. The prestigious trophy was awarded the to the Lodge Residents team! For more information about this monthly event, please contact Marriott House and Lodge on 01243 536652 or Sarah Harding at sarah.harding@barchester.com.
I'm a Resident... Get me Out of Here!
As the celebrities in the Australian jungle continue to face their fears in ‘I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here’, we decided that this would be an ideal opportunity to have a visit from Zoo Lab.
On Friday 18th November, residents, staff and visitors came together for a hands on experience with a visit from Zoo Lab. Many different animals were brought in for us to see, from the dreaded spiders and snakes to frogs, toads, millipedes, a giant African snail and an emperor scorpion that glows when exposed to ultra violet light! Residents learned something new about every animal, including where they came from, how they live, and how long they can live up to. It was an interesting and enjoyable morning!
Marriot House Goes Super for Children in Need
Staff and Residents at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home put on their best superhero costumes for Children in Need and managed to successfully raised £50 as part of the 2016 appeal. The money raised will go on to help transform the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.
Community Bingo Afternoon
On Friday 28th October, we held our monthly community bingo afternoon. This is an opportunity for the community to join the residents of Marriott House and Lodge to enjoy a good old fashioned game of bingo with them. This is a very popular monthly event and is enjoyed by all that attend. For more information, please contact Sarah Harding at Marriott House and Lodge on 01243 533652 or at sarah.harding@barchester.com.
