Activities at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Marriott House and Lodge have been fundraising and asking for donations for the charity and as result were able to deliver a large hamper that included cat food, dog food and bird food to the charity. Staff and residents were keen to continue to support this local charity after receiving some much welcomed advice last year regarding a hedgehog and fox. Brent Lodge is dedicated to the treatment, rehabilitation and release of sick, orphaned, and injured wildlife. The residents and staff members that visited the wildlife hospital were treated to seeing some of the current animals that they are currently caring for and included hedgehogs, foxes and a beautiful snowy owl called lyle. Nadia Fitzsimons, Activities Coordinator said ‘We will continue to help support this local charity throughout the year. Animal Lovers at Marriott House

Animal Lovers at Marriott House

Britain is considered a nation of animal lovers; so why should this be any different if someone moves into a care home? Pets hold a special place in many people’s hearts and lives, and there is compelling evidence from clinical and laboratory studies that interacting with pets can be beneficial to the physical, social and emotional wellbeing of humans.Chester and Lily, both Shih Tzus have been visiting Marriott House and Lodge Care Home most days for the last 3 years and enhance the lives of the residents, visitors and staff. They often can be found around the home sitting on peoples laps or playing in the lounge which always raises a smile from watching their silly antics. A simple thing like a wagging tail can raise a smile and put someone at ease. There is now a new addition to the Marriott House and Lodge family, the beautiful Monty, he is a miniature Shih Tzu. He belongs to Irene (lodge care manager) and will be spending most days in Marriott Lodge. He is already totally adored by the residents and staff.Theresa Shell, General Manager of Marriott House and Lodge Care home said ”We are very excited to welcome Monty to the Lodge, having pets around the home ensures a real homely feel and Chester, Lily and Monty enhance our residents lives in a daily basis.”A resident at Marriott House and Lodge said “I have always had a dog, so seeing the dogs here makes me smile, I love watching them run around and seeing them play is so nice.”
