Activities at Meadow Park Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Meadow Park Care Home
Mind Active
Our residents have enjoyed attending a tea dance with Mind Active at our local Salvation Army centre. Residents Lillian, Valerie, Isabel and Ruth have enjoyed getting together with our local community to celebrate their passion for music and dancing and also enjoyed joining in a lovely raffle and quiz with resident Lillian winning some yummy chocolate treats.
Long service celebrated
Congratulations to Joanne on being awarded her 10 years service award. Joanne is a valued member of our homes housekeeping team and has always gone that extra mile for those living here at Meadow Park. Thank you Joanne for you continued support and hard work that you put into your job role.
Laughter Yoga
Our residents have took part in a special Laughter Yoga session this month and it was great to see everyone getting a little bit silly and having fun with it. Laughter is an important part of everyone’s daily life and what better way to laugh then to laugh together with a friend.
World Chocolate Day
Our residents have enjoyed a sweet treat to celebrate this year’s World Chocolate Day at Meadow Park. Our homes chocolate fountain with a choice of fruit and marshmallows to dip was the perfect ingredient to make the day wonderful for all.
An afternoon at the Opera
Our homes had a fabulous time with the talented soprano Astrid Joos from Street Theatre. Astrid spoke about a selection of famous operas and our residents were treated to performances of wonderful arias from operas well-known to all, such as ‘Giuditta’, ‘Don Giovanni’ and ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’.
It was a lovely experience, truly enjoyed by all.
A handmade gift
Residents have worked together to grant local nurses Craig Leathard and Carol Leddy with a handmade book full of personalised messages from everyone here at Meadow Park after seeing a plea on social media asking for well wishes for a young patient currently staying at Wansbeck Hospital. Residents put their all into making a handmade book with messages of support for the patient and their family and it was great to see everyone working together to give someone in the community something really special.
