Activities at Oaklands Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Oaklands Care Home

Magic Table Fun!

Here at Oaklands, our residents living with dementia love interacting with our 'Magic Light Table'. It has so many games and interactive pictures!

Musical Bingo

Due to the coronavirus, we have been enjoying lots of small group activities. The residents had great fun playing musical bingo, listening and singing to many old time favourites, and then finding the matching name of the song on a card. We kind of lost our way because we were singing too much, and so there was no clear winner!

Movement to Music!

It is very important to keep moving as you get older - movement to music is one of the many fun exercise classes that we run here at Oaklands. An instructor comes in to show us the moves and everybody has great fun getting involved!

Valentine's Choir

Residents enjoy a weekly choir session with warm up songs and then into our choir sheets , which our the same songs so lots of repeating and reminicience . Some residents even enjoyed a dance with julie the choir teacher whilst singing.

School Visit

Every Wednesday lunchtime, a small group of children visit our home to read with residents. This activity helps to build the confidence of both the children and residents, and it gives the residents a sense of purpose.

Cloud Nine Choir

Residents enjoyed a treat on Sunday afternoon when a choir came to visit. Their teacher also runs our weekly choir and so we were all able to join in with some of the carols. It was a lovely event which was opened up to the local community. It was touching to see some new faces as well as some familiar ones. A big thank you to those who continually support the home year after year despite no longer having a loved one with us.
