Activities at Ochil Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Employees of the Month

Employees of the Month

Activities Coordinator, Louise Paton, and Administrator, Stacey Swan, were named as Employee of the Month for September and October, respectively.

Gentleman's Lunch Club

Gentleman's Lunch Club

A gentleman resident quite enjoys company, but in small numbers, so meals in the dining room, which seats around 45 people, is not really the place for him. Louise, our Activities Coordinator and General Manager, Liz,  discussed what we could do to make dining a happier experience for this resident, and so the Gentlemans’ Lunch Club was born!

The Gentleman’s Lunch Club will be held every Thursday in a small, quiet lounge/dining room. As the name suggests, it is only for our male residents. Activities staff will serve lunch, with some nice gentle background music playing and the lads can chat away to each other in a small, cosy environment.

The first Gentlemans’ Lunch Club was enjoyed by 8 residents; it was a great success and all present said they will definitely come back in the coming weeks!

A big well done to Louise for making it such a success.

The Rotary Club

The Rotary Club of Perth St Johns are running a Purple for Polio campaign and are visiting 4 care homes in Perth, planting crocus bulbs to flower next spring.

Gail MacKay, President of the Rotary Club, visited Ochil with her green fingered fellow Rotarians to plant the bulbs – and several residents joined in!

Gail will be visiting Ochil again in the Springtime – let’s hope we will have some beautiful purple crocuses for all to enjoy!

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Ochil recently hosted a coffee afternoon to raise funds and awareness for Macmillan Cancer Support. The afternoon was a great success, well attended and supported. Many of the staff baked for the event and one of our Senior Nurses, Morna Finnigan, was voted Best Baker! Ochil raised the sum of £200 – many thanks to everyone who contributed to the afternoon’s success.
