Activities at Ottley House Care Home

At Ottley House, we offer a person-centred activities programme, and aim to match residents' abilities and interests with meaningful activities of the correct degree of challenge that promotes their health and well-being. We also provide visual, tactile, audible and olfactory sensory experiences. There are weekly music/movement therapy sessions, 'Oomph' sessions, and arts & crafts classes to help improve, maintain and refine motor skills. We enjoy regular visits from entertainers, musicians and animal therapists, as well as pub nights, 'food from around the world' days, and minibus outings to places of interest.

Cath Smallman

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I'm Cath, the Activities Coordinator here at Ottley House. My days are spent making sure that the residents in the home have an interesting and active social programme to enjoy each day. Residents individual preferences are considered all the time in a person centred approach and I welcome feedback from families too.

Life at Ottley House Care Home

Diamond Celebrations

Ron and Rachel have just celebrated 60 years of marriage. The hospitality team baked a beautiful cake for them and the activity team decorated the room with 'congratulations' banners and balloons

Grown Ups

We have our own allotment at Ottley House and we have just made a delicious crumble out of our strawberries and rhubarb harvest.

Residents are very involved from start to finish in what we grow, joining in with our weekly gardening club – it is very much a team effort!

Divisional Volunteer of the Year

Congratulations to Philip Titley, who has been named as a Divisional Winner in the 2020 Barchester Care Awards. Philip is a finalist in the Volunteer of the Year category, and has been invited to attend a virtual awards ceremony on 8th October, where he will find out if he has won overall.

Ready for Visiting

We are very happy to be able to welcome back visitors to our home. Visits are outside only, by appointment, and social distancing needs to be adhered to. Residents are thrilled to get the chance to see their loved ones in person again.

Cool Treats

The weather has been so hot recently that our Head Chef decided to help us all cool down. She went around to all residents and staff, offering lovely ice cream cones or ice lollies. She even had the ice cream van jingle playing!

Keeping in Touch

Whilst we are unable to receive visitors into the home, we realize the importance of keeping in touch with loved ones, so we have regular Skype sessions. Days and times are pre-arranged so that everyone has a chance to see and speak to their family and friends.
