Our wonderful team comprises nurses, carers, activities coordinators, chefs, housekeepers and more. These people are here to ensure that residents enjoy their time at the home and are supported to live life to the fullest. Meet some of our staff below:

Kuda Munyira

General Manager

Hi my name is Kuda and I am the General Manager here at Ottley house care home.

I undertook my nurse training in Zimbabwe and qualified as a registered nurse in 2007. I joined Barchester healthcare as an overseas nurse in August 2016.

Through dedication and commitment to excellence I developed through various leadership roles leading up to my current position.

My role as the general manager at Otley house is overseeing daily operations, ensuring high standards of care, and maintaining regulatory compliance. My approach is centred on creating a nurturing environment where residents feel safe, valued and well cared for. My leadership is characterised by my ability to inspire the team fostering a culture of empathy, respect, and continuous improvement.

My fantastic team and I look forward to welcoming you into our home.

Gemma Roberts

Deputy Manager

Hello, my name is Gemma Roberts, and I am the deputy manager at Ottley House.

I started my career at Ottley House 2002 as a care assistant on our nursing community, I have since been promoted to care practitioner, head of community and most recently deputy manager.

Barchester has given me the training and opportunity to progress my career during my time at Ottley house. I have developed both my clinical and managerial skills by undertaking various training opportunities, most recently undertaking the assistant practitioner course at Derby university.

I am proud to be part of a dedicated team at Ottley house who always emphasis on providing person-centred care, ensuring the individuals choice, respect and dignity is maintained.

 

Jo Hicks

Head of Community

My name is Jo Hicks. I have been qualified as a Registered General Nurse for 17 years. I have vast experience in all aspects of nursing as well as previous management. I have been at Ottley House for over 3 years now & have recently become Head of Unit for Ann Carter working with a lovely team. I am passionate & enthusiastic & will always help to motivate others in order to provide the best care for our residents.

Operational Trainer

I'm the Home Trainer at Ottley House. 

I ensure that our staff are fully inducted and that all mandatory and legislative training remains up to date at all times. 

Sarah Mitchell

Administrator

Hi, my name is Sarah and I am the home administrator. I started working at Ottley House in 2012 as a care assistant, I was soon promoted to senior care assistant. In 2014 I moved over to the admin department as admin assistant then in 2024 took on the role of home administrator.

My role involves supporting the General Manager by maintaining the financial and general administrative systems.

I feel very proud to be part of the Barchester family, who like me strive to ensure that our residents and their families receive the premium service that they deserve.

Cath Smallman

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I'm Cath, the Activities Coordinator here at Ottley House. My days are spent making sure that the residents in the home have an interesting and active social programme to enjoy each day. Residents individual preferences are considered all the time in a person centred approach and I welcome feedback from families too.

Head of Maintenance

I have vast experience in maintenance and building work, and I am always happy to help with any odd jobs that need doing to keep the home looking good

Hello, my name is Julie and I am Head Housekeeper here at Ottley House. My team and I ensure that all areas of the home, including residents’ rooms, are well-presented and cleaned to a very high standard.

Amanda Paterson

Admin Assistant

Hi, I’m Amanda and I am the admin assistant here at Ottley.  I Joined Barchester as a Care Assistant in 2022 before progressing into an admin role.  Friendly and approachable and here to help in any way I can.
