Activities at Oulton Park Care Home

We have a wonderful team here at Oulton Park and we all work together to provide a stimulating, active environment for our residents that live here. We are always looking for new and innovative ideas for our residents to be part of here, and our activities coordinator works very hard on planning and providing a stimulating busy schedule of activities, as well as assisting the residents with their daily living preferences. We have regular meetings with our families and residents to make sure we are providing things to suit their preferences. We as a home are registered with the National Activity Providers Association and strive to provide a person-centred approach for our residents here.

Louise Hunter-Hall

Life Enrichment & Activities Coordinator

Hello my name is Louise, I am the life enrichment and activities coordinator at Oulton park care centre.

I joined Oulton Park late 2023 but I have worked in the care industry for over 20 years and I have a compassion for my role and work. During the 20years I have supported many different adults with different care needs including, nursing care, physical disabilities, learning disabilities, independent living and 1:1 needs. I have both my level 2&3 in care and level 2 in sign language.

At Oulton my role is to create and organise a range of engaging and meaningful activities. My role brings me a great deal of comfort and joy.

If I can just make 1 persons life better during my working day at Oulton Park then the day has been a success. I feel honoured, fortunate and blessed to do the job I do.

World Poetry Day

World Poetry Day

To celebrate World Poetry Day, residents at Oulton Park wrote their own poem:

Oulton Park is not just our home -
We are happy here; we don't feel alone.
Feeling relaxed, as we enjoy the view
With various options of things to do.
The carers and nurses are all part of the team;
They all work together to make our home warm, loving and clean.
My family and fiends can visit when they wish;
They are welcome to stay for dinner and try my recommended dish.
Friendly faces I see around,
Mischievous laughter - a familiar sound.
Our loved ones relieved - they too can see
That Oulton Park is not just our home, but part of the extended family.

Saying Farewell

Saying Farewell

It was a sad farewell from an old resident who had lived with his wife at Oulton Park for many years. We threw him a leaving party and he prepared a speech:

"Hi everyone! First of all: thank you for coming here tonight - it means a lot to me.

Oulton Park will always be a special place for me and my wife, Pam. Those of you who work here should be extremely proud of what you have created. For various reasons, I have visited about six other care homes and they don’t even come close to Oulton Park. I think Pam summed it up nicely when we tried another home (due to convenience of buses); after one night at this other home, I saw Pam the next day and her first two words were, “how soon?” I knew precisely what that meant: 'how soon can you get me back to Oulton Park and into my old room?'

I hope to come and visit sometime and I will also keep in touch. The impact Oulton Park has had on my life means everyone here will remain very dear to me.

Enjoy your evening and thanks to you all.

P.S. I would like to say a special thank you to my mate, Keith, not only for providing the spread, but also for his friendship."

Open Day

Open Day

We held an open day on Saturday 21st January and we spent the day chatting to lots of visitors and potential new residents. We started the day by having an arts and crafts session in the atrium so we could welcome visitors with teas, coffee and cake.

After lunch, we were joined by our visitors for the afternoon, the Scratby Donkey Sanctuary, and they brought various fluffy and scaly animals in for all of our guests, residents and families to make a fuss over.

We all had a wonderful afternoon and met some great new people and animals. Thank you to everyone who joined us on this day.
