Activities at Overslade House Care Home

Our activities team is dedicated to organising a variety of events and activities and adapting them to suit the capabilities of those we support. Our goal is to improve quality of life by providing activities that are tailored to residents' own interests.

At Overslade House, we encourage local people and businesses to participate, as well as our staff and relatives, in order to keep them involved as part of a wider community. We strive to enhance the quality of both mental and physical stimulation through weekly minibus excursions, PAT dogs, quizzes, Zumba classes, arm chair line dancing, musical entertainers, pamper sessions and much more.

We definitely have something for everyone!

Julie Bateman

Activities Lead

Hi, my name is Julie, and I'm the lead Activities Lead here at Overslade House. I've been an entertainer for over 25 years which has given me a great foundation for meeting people from various backgrounds, and has also helped nurture my social skills.

I love animals, and have two Dachshunds of my own who, like me, love meeting new people. I'm looking forward to bringing them in to meeting all our lovely residents here at Overslade.

I'm a bit of a social butterfly and enjoy visiting National Trust locations, attending the Theatre, singing and dining out. Over the years I've even been an 'extra' on TV!

Living life to the full is my motto, and I wish to instil this in all our residents, whatever your ability there is something new to learn or try. Life is for enriching and enjoyment. I look forward to getting to know you and your loved ones. We are always open to new ideas, if you'd like to contact me please call the home on 01788 522577 or email me direct on overslade.activities@barchester.com - New entertainers always welcome.

Celebrating Chinese New Year

Staff and residents at Overslade House welcomed in the Year of the Rabbit with a day of celebrations and activities.

Inspired by Chinese culture and traditions, the home was decorated with hanging red lanterns crafted by our residents. Residents learnt all about the traditions and superstitions of Chinese New Year. Head chef Joanne Kolat-Furca cooked up an oriental feast for lunch and residents enjoyed the delicious food.

Long service celebrated

A Carer at Overslade House Care Home in Rugby, Warwickshire has received a prestigious 10 Year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for 10 years.  Rose Bister, now Carer, started at Barchester in December 2013 and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.

Royal Parks London

Across our services our residents have enjoyed a wonderful live virtual talk about starlings, one of the UK’s most gregarious birds, hosted by Rachel Dowse from The Royal Parks London.

Rachel examined our long history with this bird and the importance of common species to our lives. Our residents had the opportunity to find out more about the great murmuration and why we need to pay special attention to these beauties before it's too late.

The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.

30 Years of Barchester

Excitement levels were through the roof at Overslade House as staff and residents celebrated Barchester's 30th anniversary!

Barchester Healthcare started out in 1992 with just one care home, Moreton Hill, in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire. Fast forward 30 years and Barchester is now the second largest care home company in the UK with 250 care homes and private hospitals all over the country.

To celebrate, Overslade House Care Home threw open its doors on 9th December from 11am for a fantastic musical event and everyone was invited! The residents, family, staff and local community were entertained by the wonderful Gemma Richen who had everybody up dancing and clapping and playing along with instruments.
