Activities at Peony Court Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to enhancing residents' quality of life by providing regular social and psychological stimulation. The activities can be undertaken in groups or ‘one-to-one’ and are based on individual preferences. We have a varied programme, with the goal of appealing to the interests and capabilities of all residents as best as possible. For example, there's pottery, baking, Scrabble, art classes, exercise sessions and much more. The Activities Coordinators also organise visits from entertainers, local groups, including school choirs, religious services and outings on the minibus.

Activities

Hi! I'm Paul, the Activities Co-Ordinator at Peony Court.

Before I joined the care sector I worked for many years in the hotel industry, managing housekeeping, hospitality and customer experience. Several members of my family have a history of working in care and I thought, maybe that could be me as well. I'm a natural entertainer with a flare for bringing smiles to people's faces and this was absolutely the right move for me.

Here at Peony Court, I make a point of getting to know each and every resident and their families. I tailor the activities program to suit individuals, no one is the same and everyone has different interests. It's my aim to be empathetic, enthusiastic and engaging with all of my residents. We have incredible activities and events here guided by exactly what our residents want, from pampering sessions to singing and dancing, chair exercises to arts and crafts, and diversity is absolutely the key!

I can't wait to welcome more residents and guests to Peony Court!

Mince Pies and Mulled Wine

We were delighted to welcome friends and associates to our outside space today to enjoy a mince pie, mulled wine and pick up a raffle ticket or two. A huge thank you to Sarah Jones, MP for Croydon Central pictured here. (Raffle winners will be announced on our web page on 23rd with all proceeds to The Croydon Food Bank. We're running at £120 so far, please help us raise more!)

Nothing quite like a furry cuddle!

At the end of a busy day full of fun what is better than cuddling up with your cat! Mrs N and Missy are best friends now and Missy likes nothing more than jumping up on her chair and having a lovely snooze!

Happy Birthday!

A very happy birthday to Sandra Roche, our fabulous General Manager. Thank you for all you do for our residents, families and team every day!

Employee of the Month

Meet Nick Booth, our Maintenance Manager, but so much more than that! He does shopping for our residents and team, drives the mini bus and joins us at our destinations, in fact will never say no to any help request and always has a happy, positive outlook! Thank you Nick! Much deserved!

Church Festival

St Matthews Church in Park Hill, East Croydon invited us to join their local Christmas Tree festival where we all design a tree and display it through the festive season in their church hall. Do pop by and grab yourself a Barchester Trolley Key from its branches compliments of Peony Court! We have plenty more to replace them!

The trees are up!

The Christmas season at Peony Court is in full swing! We're having great fun putting all the trees up together and our local Hamsey Green Scout Group lead by Janice Simpson treated us to a Covid secure "at your front door" wonderful carol concert! Thank you very much scouts!
