Activities at Peony Court Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to enhancing residents' quality of life by providing regular social and psychological stimulation. The activities can be undertaken in groups or ‘one-to-one’ and are based on individual preferences. We have a varied programme, with the goal of appealing to the interests and capabilities of all residents as best as possible. For example, there's pottery, baking, Scrabble, art classes, exercise sessions and much more. The Activities Coordinators also organise visits from entertainers, local groups, including school choirs, religious services and outings on the minibus.

Paul McKee

Activities

Hi! I'm Paul, the Activities Co-Ordinator at Peony Court.

Before I joined the care sector I worked for many years in the hotel industry, managing housekeeping, hospitality and customer experience. Several members of my family have a history of working in care and I thought, maybe that could be me as well. I'm a natural entertainer with a flare for bringing smiles to people's faces and this was absolutely the right move for me.

Here at Peony Court, I make a point of getting to know each and every resident and their families. I tailor the activities program to suit individuals, no one is the same and everyone has different interests. It's my aim to be empathetic, enthusiastic and engaging with all of my residents. We have incredible activities and events here guided by exactly what our residents want, from pampering sessions to singing and dancing, chair exercises to arts and crafts, and diversity is absolutely the key!

I can't wait to welcome more residents and guests to Peony Court!

Employee of The Month

Peony Court residents and staff all voted for their employee of the month and Paul won hands down! Not only does he ensure we're all engaged in fulfilling activities and trips etc, but he also jumps in to help in the kitchen, restaurant and house keeping. Thank you so much Paul and well done indeed!

ARCC Sporting Memories Club

Peony Court introduced the "Sporting memories" initiative to local group, Asian Resource Centre Croydon. We're very proud to support their very own new "Sporting memories club" who meet within our beautiful home weekly. Dolls House!

Meet Ms J, the newest member of the Peony Family. Ms J was a dab hand at needlework in her younger years and decided along with her husband to take on a retirement project to keep them busy….. With the sewing skills of Ms J and the expertise of her retired architect husband they built 2 dolls Houses, a Georgian mansion and a quaint little shop. Between the fabulous pair they undertook this mammoth task from the ground up, producing everything inside and out from scratch! And those amazing houses now stand proud at Peony Court for everyone to enjoy.

Grant awarded to Croydon Vision

Peony Court were very happy to present Croydon Vision with a cheque for £750 towards the cost of vibrant arts and crafts materials to help improve the quality of life for people with sight loss. Croydon Vision began in 1923 as Croydon voluntary association for the blind. Since then they have worked tirelessly to improve outcomes for people living with sight loss in the area.

Happy Valentines!

Croydon University Hospital have been so fantastic through these last two difficult years, they were treated to a visit from our very own "Miss Valentine!" We moved from ward to ward singing upbeat love songs to all the patients, visitors and staff to "share the joy" on this special day! It was really well received and great fun! Happy Valentines day!
