Activities at Southgate Beaumont Care Community
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Life at Southgate Beaumont Care Community
A trip to Springtime Nurseries.
What a glorious way to start a Monday!
With a lovely trip to a local garden center to see all the beautiful flowers and breathe in the fresh air.
No trip would be complete without a trip to the café for a cup of tea and a scone and jam!
We are so happy the weather stayed bright for us too!
What a lovely Pancake day we all had!
What a lovely Pancake day we all had!
Residents were spoilt for choice with lots of delicious pancakes and all their favourite toppings… syrup, chocolate sauce, fruit and lemon and sugar!!
Thank you to our wonderful Chef Dan for preparing everything.
We couldn’t manage another mouthful!
Love is all around us!
This Valentine’s Day, we thought we would share a lovely story of our only married couple currently residing in our care home.
Peter and Shirley are a much-loved addition to our Beaumont family and this June sees them celebrating their 68th wedding anniversary!
Love blossomed almost 70 years ago at their local ice rink, when a group of boys decided to trip Shirley up on the ice. Peter immediately came to Shirley’s rescue, scooping her up and taking her home safely. The rest, as they say, is history.
“I wouldn’t call Peter handsome, but he was very kind,” said Shirley with a laugh when asked about her first impressions. “I also wasn’t very popular with Peter’s mother because I lived on the local council estate!”
Amazingly, Peter’s grandfather invented the electrical plates used in X-ray machines. Eventually, after they got married, Shirley did all the family accounts whilst Peter carried on running the business.
They had lots of lovely holidays together and two wonderful children who Shirley praises for contributing to so much of their happiness.
When asked about the secret to a long and happy marriage, Shirley replied,
“He always does as he’s told!!”
Here’s to many more happy years for this lovely pair!
Love comes in all shapes!
They say that love comes in all shapes and sizes and for our residents here at Southgate Beaumont, it was bauble shapes that spread the love.
As part of an intergenerational project with Enfield in schools, residents got to explore the theme of love through a child’s eyes.
By swapping clear baubles filled with stories and objects of sentiment, we all learned that love is often found in the simplest of things.
We would like to say a great big thank you to all of the year one pupils at St Andrews school in Southgate. Your kindness in sharing all your precious items and stories with our residents gave them so much joy.
Seated exercise classes at Southgate Beaumont.
Jignesh is our wonderful Physiotherapist.
He has been working here at Beaumont for almost 14 years. He has a great relationship with our residents and staff and is extremely gentle and encouraging in his approach.
Jignesh works independently with individuals but also holds a weekly exercise session in our lovely lounge every Thursday.
It’s a great way for our residents to interact with each other and is the perfect way to keep their minds and bodies full of positivity.
The Chicken shed theater company visits Southgate Beaumont !
Today our residents were transported back to the swinging 60s and 70s, with a long awaited visit from Chicken Shed theatre company!
What fun we all had reminiscing about the clothes and music of that time. Residents brought along photos of themselves and they all
laughed about the different styles of clothes they used to wear. Jacky was so proud to show us this picture from her wedding day. She actually made this dress herself! Residents then made colourful collages of images they liked.
Eventually this will be turned into one huge image for the residents to enjoy. We can't wait to keep you posted on the finished project in a few weeks time! Thank you so much Rachel and Tiia from Chicken Shed for your visit.
