Activities at Southgate Beaumont Care Community
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Zoe Grindley
Hello My name is Zoe, I have been in the life enrichment team at Southgate Beaumont since December 2021.
I am originally from Liverpool and moved to London in 1997 after being accepted at Mountview Theatre school. After graduating I worked as an actress and accomplished voiceover artist for many years. I also have a vast amount customer service experience, working in many West End Theatres, as Cabin crew for Virgin Atlantic and at Claridges hotel in Mayfair.
Zoe has a passion for making strong connections with people and creating lasting memorable experiences.
My role here at Southgate Beaumont is to ensure our residents lives are packed full of enriching and interesting activity. We provide a wide range of both home led and community led activity for all residents as well as personalised and individual hobby and interest focused events. Our programme ranges from cocktail making, to art history talks, exercise sessions as well as fine dining dinner parties catered for by our chefs
I have made lots of lovely new friends at Southgate Beaumont care home and look forward to making many more.

World Cocktail day was a great success on Friday!
World Cocktail day was a great success on Friday!
Lovely Pimms with fresh fruits and a refreshing gin and elderflower cocktail, gave us a great start to the weekend.
Residents helped our chef Dan with all the cutting of the fruit and mixing all the measures.
They were then enjoyed by everyone!
Cheers!

Happy International Nurses' Day1
Yesterday was International Nurses day and we wanted to make our nurses feel extra special for all the wonderful things that they do!
We had a lovely celebration together, eating chocolates and cake.
The nurses were also presented with some beautiful flowers and art work designed especially buy our residents.
One picture is based on the saying that ‘Nurses are angels in comfortable shoes’!
Thank you to all the carers and nurses everywhere.
What a difference you make to each and everyone of us.

A trip to St Stephens church in Enfield for social singing.
What a wonderful way to brighten up a cold and rainy morning! A trip to St Stephens church in Enfield for some social singing, meeting new people and a bit of dancing too!
Thank you to Age UK for organising such a lovely event.
It was also wonderful to meet the former Mayor of Enfield, who with her donation made the event possible.
We didn’t want to leave!
This event will take place on the 2nd Wednesday of every month and is suitable for everyone!

The Power of music!
Chicken Shed Theatre company returned for another fantastic visit this week and this time we were treated to the beautiful voice of Eloise and the amazing musical talents of Finn.
We all got to sing along with our very own song sheets and Finn played a huge rendition of Beetle songs on his guitar and the piano.
One of our residents even spoke of the time that she saw the Beetles playing live in concert!
The power of music is so important in our home and it’s wonderful to see the positivity and magic it brings to our residents.
Thank you Chicken Shed Theatre!
We can’t wait for your next visit!

Sporting Memories!
We have recently been involved with the Sporting memories foundation.
They use their work to tackle dementia, loneliness and depression, through the power of sports reminiscence.
They have given us all sorts of wonderful tools to help with gentle exercise but also beautiful photos of sporting activities to stimulate memories from times gone by.
It’s amazing how sharing stories can encourage people to talk, but it’s also wonderful to see all the memories that come flooding back.
We had a lovely afternoon sharing tales and laughing at some of the funny images on the cards.
We are looking forward to incorporating this into our weekly activities to bring about positivity and fitness for the months ahead!
