Activities at Southgate Beaumont Care Community

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Zoe Grindley

Activities Coordinator

Hello My name is Zoe, I have been in the life enrichment team at Southgate Beaumont since December 2021.

I am originally from Liverpool and moved to London in 1997 after being accepted at Mountview Theatre school. After graduating I worked as an actress and accomplished voiceover artist for many years. I also have a vast amount customer service experience, working in many West End Theatres, as Cabin crew for Virgin Atlantic and at Claridges hotel in Mayfair.

Zoe has a passion for making strong connections with people and creating lasting memorable experiences.

My role here at Southgate Beaumont is to ensure our residents lives are packed full of enriching and interesting activity. We provide a wide range of both home led and community led activity for all residents as well as personalised and individual hobby and interest focused events. Our programme ranges from cocktail making, to art history talks, exercise sessions as well as fine dining dinner parties catered for by our chefs

I have made lots of lovely new friends at Southgate Beaumont care home and look forward to making many more.

Life at Southgate Beaumont Care Community

Sporting Memories!

We have recently been involved with the Sporting memories foundation.

They use their work to tackle dementia, loneliness and depression, through the power of sports reminiscence.

They have given us all sorts of wonderful tools to help with gentle exercise but also beautiful photos of sporting activities to stimulate memories from times gone by.

It’s amazing how sharing stories can encourage people to talk, but it’s also wonderful to see all the memories that come flooding back.

We had a lovely afternoon sharing tales and laughing at some of the funny images on the cards.

We are looking forward to incorporating this into our weekly activities to bring about positivity and fitness for the months ahead!

Being creative at Southgate Beaumont!

Being creative at Southgate Beaumont!

We’ve had so much fun making Easter crafts this week.

Our residents got to work to make lots of bright and colourful Easter eggs and banners to decorate our lounge and even our Barchester bunnies that sit in our reception had a make over!

We are very much looking forward to a delicious lunch on Sunday and everyone is hoping the Easter bunny remembers to call in!!

Wishing you all a very Happy Easter!

And they’re off!

And they’re off!

If we couldn’t get to ladies day in Aintree, then the races would come to Southgate Beaumont!

Residents got dressed in their best, Picked a horse from the lucky dip and we all watched the race live from our lovely Terrace lounge.

With Wine. fizz and nibbles and our hats to top of the occasion it was a splendid afternoon!

Congratulations to George, Ivan and Janet whose horses came 1st, 2nd and 3rd!

Happy 102nd Birthday Marjorie!

Happy 102 birthday to a very special resident today!

What an inspiration you are to us all with your wonderful sense of humour, energy and zest for life!

When I asked Marjorie what her secret to being 102 years young was, her answer was very simple.

“To be thankful for everything” she said with a smile.

Chicken shed Theatre company at Southgate Beaumont.

Chicken shed Theatre company brought so much joy to Southgate Beaumont, when they returned for their latest project of The Space Between us.

Residents were delighted to listen to the live music and the amazing talents of Jo Collins who is the actual founder of the Theatre company itself.

One of our residents Raymond was having such a great time that he tried to get out his wheelchair just so he could have a dance!

We all had song sheets to sing along to the guitar and at the end of the session Queenie said that she wished they could have stayed all day!

It really is amazing to see the power of music and the positive effect it had on everyone. We can’t wait for them to come back!

St Patrick's day celebrations.

St Patrick's Day Celebrations!

Residents had a wonderful St Patrick’s day at Southgate Beaumont and we were thrilled to have an afternoon of music with entertainer Pete Morton.

Pete sang all our favourite Irish classics and kept us all singing along to his wonderful guitar!

Even our local Fire Brigade had a lovely treat with the delivery of some homemade Guinness cupcakes prepared by our chef Dan.

Wishing you all the Luck of the Irish for the coming weeks ahead.
