Activities at Southgate Beaumont Care Community
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Life at Southgate Beaumont Care Community
Dignity in Care Day
Here at Southgate Beaumont we celebrated the Dignity in Care month with dances, digni-tea, reading poems about dignity and enjoying ourselves.
Sunshine Garden Centre
We had a very successful outing with Oomph to Sunshine garden centre. It was a great experience with the new Oomph van-the driver was very helpful. We had some refreshments and did some shopping.
At the end the owner of the Garden centre came to us with a big box of chocolate and said thank you to all of us for the visit. Everyone enjoyed.
Grandparents Day
Southgate Beaumont celebrated the love and achievements of the older generation with a lot of music and delicious food. A lot of relatives and friend came to show their gratitude and respect for the older generation and to honour grandparents.
Carer of the Year
Bethany Roberts, a carer at Southgate Beaumont, was crowned as the national winner in the Carer of the Year category at the 2019 Barchester Care Awards on the 3rd October.
On the night, Bethany was presented the trophy and a gift voucher of £500 by category judges Tracey Elmer and Michael Hall, Clinical Leads at Barchester alongside Barchester’s CEO, Dr Pete Calveley.
Bethany said: “I was overwhelmed to win the divisional title, so to win the National title was just incredible. We had a fantastic day with some amazing people. I am truly honoured to have been part of the day and would like to say a special thank you to Barchester and the Hickathrift team for all of their support”.
After being named a divisional winner, Bethany met with a panel of judges in London for the last round of judging. She then joined the other divisional winners from across the UK at a special awards ceremony in October to celebrate their achievements.
Care Home General Manager, Beatrice Godfrey at Southgate Beaumont said: “This is an amazing achievement and the whole home is so proud of Bethany. She has shown incredible dedication to her residents and to her team; it takes a special person to be a carer, and Bethany genuinely care leaves a positive impact on everyone she meets, we are very lucky to have her.”
Volunteers from NCS
Here at Southgate Beaumont Care Community we had 10 students’ volunteers from NCS who engaged very well with elderly. Our residents enjoyed their company. Iva organized a big party on their last day to show our appreciation for their help and everyone were happy.
Happy World's Biggest Coffee Morning
We hosted a coffee morning to rise money for the Macmillan Cancer Support. We marked the occasion with treat tasting, cuppa sipping and Prosecco popping! We had an amazing food-filled day with colleagues at Barchester Healthcare, relatives and guests from the local community.
We raise £95.00, and hope that will make a difference to people living with cancer, so thank you so much for your incredible fundraising efforts this year.
