Activities at Southgate Beaumont Care Community
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Zoe Grindley
Hello My name is Zoe, I have been in the life enrichment team at Southgate Beaumont since December 2021.

Life at Southgate Beaumont Care Community
Summer BBQ
We had a lovely summer BBQ party in our beautiful garden. Excellent food was prepared by our kitchen staff and there was easy listening music by the Johannian Orchestra. They played music chosen by our residents, and everyone loved dancing to it. We had a stall and people were also enjoying shopping. There was a tombola and our General Manager, Beatrice Godfrey, was giving the winners their presents.
Our Divisional Winner
Well done to Bethany Roberts, who was named as a Divisional Winner in the Carer of the Year category for the 2019 Barchester Care Awards.
Easter at Southgate
We hosted an Easter concert here at Southgate Beaumont.
On the big day, staff members were busy preparing the venue for the event. Head Chef, Brian, and his team prepared some hot cross buns, and our young performers began arriving at 3:00 p.m. with their parents and teachers, and brought lots of fruits and cakes with them.
The concert started at 3:30 p.m., and the place was packed up with residents, loved ones and visitors. There were many uplifting songs that residents sang along to, and the children had voices like angels. Some of them event played instruments, including the piano, violin and cello.
We also hosted an Easter egg hunt and raffle after the concert. Resident, Les, won the first price, but donated it to the children. We visited the less mobile residents in their rooms, and the children presented them with gifts, which really put smiles on their faces.
The home looked its best and was thoroughly vibrating with life all day.
Ladies Who Latte
We have invited this group of local lady solicitors—'Ladies Who Latte'—to come and use one of our rooms for their meetings, as they have clients who can benefit from our facilities.
They are a very active group that has been in Southgate for 3 years, and is growing in numbers.
Art & Coffee Morning
We hosted an art lecture with Dr Banting on cross-channel impressionism, looking specifically at the paintings of Edgar Degas and Whistler & Walter Sickert. 46 people from the community, along with our residents, attended and enjoyed the lecture.
Next month, we are going on a journey into the café and cabarets of the late 19th century Montmartre through the eyes of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and his friends.
Violin Concert
We were joined by Lisa Izume, a famous violist who has performed all over the world. Resident loved her performance very much!
