Activities at Sutton Grange Care Home
Here at Sutton Grange we work really hard at providing a range of activities to suit our residents needs. We understand that everyone is different and we enjoy supporting our residents in whatever activities they would like to take part in. With a dedicated Activities co-ordinator and a friendly team of volunteers we are always busy with activities. We have several clubs including; gardening, film, craft, music, puzzles, and singing. We enjoy live music and entertainment, both in and outside of the home, and have regular outings on the minibus to local places of interest. Residents take part in animal assisted therapy, afternoon tea, arts and crafts classes, and visits from local community groups and school children. We believe it is important to provide stimulating, meaningful and relevant activities for our residents in order to make friends, and build a warm community to live.
Alison Wareing
Hi, I'm Alison. I am the Activities Co-ordinator here at Sutton Grange, I joined the team in 2016.
I grew up in the local area and started my career working with animals. After I had my daughter, and before I joined Barchester, I trained as a teacher and taught lipreading and communication. The skills I learnt have been invaluable in my role today.
Now, I fill my days spending time with our wonderful Residents, helping them to live their lives to the fullest. I try to make a difference in someone’s life each day.

Life at Sutton Grange Care Home
Musical Entertainment
We were joined by Hugh Dent who entertained us with his guitar. As you can see: a good time was had by all, and everyone sang along to their favourites.
Helping Hands
Debra Sutton has been at Sutton Grange recently giving lovely hand a shoulder massages.
Dave Dare
Dave Dare is one of our newest entertainers here at Sutton Grange, and is going down a treat with his Elvis songs. He really gets us up on our feet, tapping our toes.
April at Sutton Gtrange
We were joined by Hugh Dent who, once again, performed some lovely songs for us. Everyone enjoyed singing along and a few people even got up and danced.
PAT dogs, Diva & Bella, have been enjoying their weekly cuddles with residents. Bella always loves to ride on resident, Peter's, walker, and snuggling up to Peggy and Eileen.
We've been fortunate enough to have good weather (mostly) throughout April, so we've been able to enjoy our armchair exercise sessions in the garden.
We were also joined by a new singer called Dave Dare; he went down a storm, especially with Elvis fans.
Cornelius and other residents went on a trip to some local botanical gardens, which they loved.
All this happened in April – and much more!
March Celebrations
It's been quite a month of celebrations, with the usual round of birthdays and a very special wedding anniversary.
Birthday girl, Doreen, was surprised when she found her bedroom door adorned with decorations.
We were honoured to host a platinum wedding anniversary party and resident, Ken, kept the celebrations going with a beautiful rendition on the café piano.
St Patrick's Day
After an Irish-themed quiz, Hugh Dent provided the craic for our St Patrick’s Day celebrations with his usual blend of blarney and interactive music. We joined in with some Irish songs, as well as his usual favourites.
