Activities at West Abbey Care Home
Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. There are regular outings in the minibus to nearby places of interest, as well as visits from the Donkey sanctuary, musicians and entertainers. We also host evenings such as our Cheese & Wine evenings and BBQ's in the summer, that we encourage relatives to come to. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained. We encourage our residents to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can to ensure that life at West Abbey is fun and active for all.
Nikki Griffee
Hi, I'm Nikki and I originally came to work at West Abbey in 2018 and have worked in various roles supporting our residents.
What I enjoy about my job is that no two days are the same and most of all, I thoroughly enjoy everyday activities with the residents including 1-2-1 room visits all the way to professional singers visiting us. A firm favourite of mine and the residents at West Abbey is using our mini-bus weekly and visiting local nature hot spots! I look forward to welcoming you to our home.

Life at West Abbey Care Home
70th Anniversary
Dennis & Pauline celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Friday 8th July. We made them a card and they received some beautiful flowers and enjoyed a romantic meal and a special cake. We wish them many more.
West Abbey in Bloom
Last year, West Abbey won a Silver Gilt in the Yeovil in Bloom and South West in Bloom competitions for the best business garden. This year, we have entered again and hope to be equally as successful. The pictures we have taken of the garden will be judged on 12th July and then the judges will come to visit West Abbey to see the garden during the second week of August.
Little Donkey
A donkey from the local donkey sanctuary visited West Abbey in June and went around the home for the enjoyment of all residents.
Zoo Lab
Zoo Lab visited us in June and brought some wonderful creepy-crawlies with them. Residents loved seeing them, holding them, and learning about where they came from and what they eat.
Care Home Open Day at West Abbey
We celebrated National Care Home Open Day here at West Abbey on Friday 17th June; we had Sharon's owls visit us in the afternoon and enjoyed some delicious tea and cakes.
West Abbey's May Employee of the Month
RGN, Mary Jane, was named West Abbey's Employee of the Month for May.
Mary Jane is a wonderful nurse on our Memory Lane unit. She is always smiling and happy to help.
