Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Lee Austin
My name is Lee and I am the Head of Lifestyle here at Westergate House.
I support our residents daily to do the things they enjoy and it is extremely important to me that we are offering a premium and person centred service to each resident. I support our residents on a daily basis by providing meaningful and quality activities either in groups or on a 1:1 basis, to help encourage and build confidence while creating an enjoyable environment for everyone. Westergate House is the home of our residents, we as staff are working in it, so it is extremely important to me that we are respectful of that, while offering a premium and person centred service to each and every resident.
I am a trained actor and professional vocalist and not shy in making a fool of myself. If I do that every day to put a smile on our residents faces then I’m happy I have played my part, along with the rest of the amazing team, to brightening their day. If you hear someone singing along the corridor or see them dancing in the lounges, it will probably be me.

Life at Westergate House Care Home
Outdoor Games on the Terrace
Another glorious sunny day meant that residents at Westergate House could take advantage of the grounds with traditional garden games on one of the terraces, including skittles & hook-a-duck!
Outdoor garden games provided the perfect summer activity for everyone and Wendy was excellent at Hook-a-Duck as you can see, not one but three ducks at a time, well done Wendy !
Armchair Travel day to Mexico
Residents enjoyed a fun filled Day when we arranged an Armchair Travel Day to Mexico!
The morning was spent learning about the History, culture and cuisine of Mexico, with a specially made information pamphlet full of interesting facts and a Mexican themed word search to complete at their leisure.
The residents enjoyed a wonderful lunch including the choice of Mexican style spiced prawn salad starters, Chilli Con Carne which was followed by a delicious Mexican style chocolate cake with cinnamon and cayenne pepper!
The Afternoon was full of laughter as the staff danced in fancy dress to Mariachi music while the residents enjoyed Mexican Beer tasting and tortilla chips and dips.The residents thanked all the team for their efforts in making the day so memorable and a lot of fun.
The Day was rounded up with the traditional game of Piñata! When the donkey was hit several times it burst open giving all the residents sweets and chocolate treats.
Move it or Lose It
Pauline joined us for our ‘Move It or Lose It’ exercise class. She had a great time trying out the exercises with our new exercise bands!
90th Birthday Celebrations
Heather celebrated her 90th birthday at Westergate House, sharing a scrumptious birthday cake filled with cream and strawberries, which she shared with her fellow residents and the staff team.
World Chocolate Day
National Chocolate Day was celebrated at Westergate House with a delicious variety of home-made chocolate cakes made by our wonderful Head Chef, Eric.
Felicity chose a muffin, which was topped with chocolate icing and strawberries, and shethoroughly enjoyed it!
Beer Tasting
To celebrate Father’s Day at Westergate House, our residents enjoyed a traditional roast turkey dinner with all the trimmings, followed by an afternoon of beer tasting in the garden, which went down well with the gents! Fellow residents raised a toast to all the fathers at Westergate House whilst they enjoyed sampling a variety of cool beers from around the world.
