Activities at Westergate House Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Lee Austin
My name is Lee and I am the Head of Lifestyle here at Westergate House.
I support our residents daily to do the things they enjoy and it is extremely important to me that we are offering a premium and person centred service to each resident. I support our residents on a daily basis by providing meaningful and quality activities either in groups or on a 1:1 basis, to help encourage and build confidence while creating an enjoyable environment for everyone. Westergate House is the home of our residents, we as staff are working in it, so it is extremely important to me that we are respectful of that, while offering a premium and person centred service to each and every resident.
I am a trained actor and professional vocalist and not shy in making a fool of myself. If I do that every day to put a smile on our residents faces then I’m happy I have played my part, along with the rest of the amazing team, to brightening their day. If you hear someone singing along the corridor or see them dancing in the lounges, it will probably be me.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Cheque presentation to Sage House Dementia Support
A huge thank you again to everyone who came and supported our South Downs Challenge Walk here at Westergate House. We had a visit today from Lisa from Sage House Dementia Support in Tangmere with our final total.
An amazing £722.82 raised for Sage House and the Dementia Support charity!!
Thank you and well done everyone.

South Downs Challenge
Well, we did it!!!! Today, Saturday, in the final few hours we completed our 100 mile South Downs Challenge here at Westergate House.
As a home we have walked 2000 laps of our track, welcomed visitors and family members along the way, instigated new meetings between residents, and of course had quality time with loved ones. We have raised more than £500 for Sage House Dementia Support with the final total raised over £700.
Thank you so much to everyone who has donated both financially and with their time to put in some laps. We are very proud of our residents with what they and the staff have achieved. Well done everyone.
People who have taken part have said how the benefit of the challenge has helped them with their mental health and wellbeing which is amazing to hear. A breath in the fresh air, a fitness boost and the chance to help a good cause has been fantastic.
We all had so much fun and people didn’t want to stop that we are planning another challenge, and this one is a big one much bigger…. watch this space.

Pinks Vintage Ice Cream Van visits before going on an adventure
Another amazing day here at Westergate House. The wonderful Pinks Vintage Ice Cream Van made a visit to us today too, providing beautiful ice cream for all residents and staff. Even some of our residents family members got some too. After that it was a minibus trip for some of our house residents up and around Goodwood and through some of the beautiful villages that surround our area.

Another trip to the seaside & quiz’s in our stunning Bistro at the home
Another day of fun here at Westergate House. As it was a bit cooler, we had great Minibus trip to the seafront for a wonder and some ice creams. Back at the main house, some of our residents worked together to take part in a fun picture quiz. What a great week so far, We wonder what excitement the rest of the week will provide.

An afternoon out on the seafront with family & friends
Wonderful times here at Westergate House. We had a lovely minibus trip today to the seafront and The Beachcroft Hotel where some of our residents family joined us. Lovely conversations and new memories made, plus massive portions of cake to go with our tea. We even brought two portions back with us for the reception team, what a fantastic day.

Fun trip in our minibus to the local Garden Centre
Today we enjoyed a fantastic trip out on our minibus to the local garden centre. We enjoyed an impromptu quiz whilst walking around.; 'guess the flowers', which was great fun. Everyone enjoyed refreshments in their beautiful cafe afterwards, ice cold raspberry lemonade and a huge slice of Oreo cake was choice of the day. Wonderful days at Westergate House.
