Activities at Wood Grange Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Ruby-Mae Walker
Hello, my name is Ruby-Mae and I am the activities Co-Ordinator here at Wood Grange.
My background is working in dance education and production as well as experience in the mental health care sector. I am extremely passionate about my role here in promoting life enrichment within the home and I feel privileged to work alongside such amazing people, and to be a part of our residents lives, spending quality time with them on a regular basis. I work alongside Louise to plan and organise daily activities to suit our resident’s needs, Louise and I are very enthusiastic about our roles and the resident’s well-being is always at the forefront of our minds.
I love to dance, keep fit by going to the gym and spending time with family.

Life at Wood Grange Care Home
The Sweetness of Kindness
We had a morning to take our residents into Bourne town for any shopping that they needed, one particular resident wanted to use the ATM to withdraw some cash. Unfortunately when our resident went to withdraw we had noticed her card had expired! We decided to continue our day by getting a cup of tea at a café nearby, it so happened that we were sat at Cafe Cream next to the Sweet Stop which is Bourne’s traditional sweet shop. Our resident Robina is a big fan of sweets and I told her about the shop, she got her purse out and counted 60p. Then to our surprise a lady who was sat next to us, overheard our conversation and handed Robina a £5 note to spend in the sweet shop, she was over the moon and told the kind lady, “I am going to spend every penny”. That she did, £5.60 exactly. Robina loved the shop and did not want to leave. Thank you to whoever you are, you made her day.
Dementia UK Coffee Morning
Wood Grange decided to hold ‘Time for a Cuppa’ at the start of Dementia action week. We got our finest china sets out and served some yummy cakes to help raise money for Dementia UK. It was a fabulous morning, our residents really enjoyed themselves and so did our friends and family. We raised £51 in total.
Queen's Birthday
The Queen’s birthday was celebrated in the garden, with glorious sunshine whilst eating a fabulous cake created by our talented kitchen team served with traditional English tea.
Easter Baking
Our residents did a great job at baking this very chocolatey Easter cake which was entered in the Barchester Easter cake competition. We shared it out to everyone else in the home.
Easter
Our residents had a lovely day visiting The Cedars care home for some Easter fun. Our residents thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and it was great to meet our neighbours.
Nutrition and Hydration week
Wood Grange residents had great fun in Nutrition and Hydration week this month. One of our residents who worked as a cook led an activity making yummy fruit salads which they enjoyed for an afternoon snack. Then we did some creative printing using the leftover fruit the following day.
