Activities at Wood Grange Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Ruby-Mae Walker
Hello, my name is Ruby-Mae and I am the activities Co-Ordinator here at Wood Grange.
My background is working in dance education and production as well as experience in the mental health care sector. I am extremely passionate about my role here in promoting life enrichment within the home and I feel privileged to work alongside such amazing people, and to be a part of our residents lives, spending quality time with them on a regular basis. I work alongside Louise to plan and organise daily activities to suit our resident’s needs, Louise and I are very enthusiastic about our roles and the resident’s well-being is always at the forefront of our minds.
I love to dance, keep fit by going to the gym and spending time with family.

Life at Wood Grange Care Home
Residents honour the fallen
Wood Grange in Bourne took a trip to the International Bomber Command Centre to commemorate Remembrance Day, a place for recognition, remembrance and reconciliation for Bomber Command. They were joined by relatives who attended the trip.
Residents had a lovely time, we were greeted by Rodger our tour guide who led us to 'The Spire' which is one of the UK's tallest war memorials. The Wall of Names, which has the names of every individual who lost their lives to the
Bomber Command.
Nick Glover- Vocal Entertainer
The residents had a good sing song and dance on Tuesday 17th with Nick Glover. He came to Wood Grange care home to perform to our residents and it was a pleasure to have him here.
We listened to different genres and styles and enjoyed every song but in the end Elvis got everybody moving! Even the staff couldn’t help themselves but to have a boogie.
The residents said “it’s great to hear our music again, it takes us back to when we used to go dancing”, this was great to hear that they had enjoyed the entertainment and that they were able to reminisce from this.
Residents enjoy live dance performance
Residents and guests at Wood Grange Care Home in Bourne enjoyed an afternoon of grins with a live acrobatics performance that took place at the home. Activities Coordinator, Ruby-Mae Walker from Wood Grange and Work experience student, Darcy Orford from Stamford College performed a selection of acrobatic stunts that they regularly perform as part of their competitive hobbies across the county.
Home raises funds for Alzheimer's Awareness
The activities team and a relative at Wood Grange care home in Bourne have taken part in a sponsored 24 mile hike at Rutland water and a night camping in the Wood Grange garden to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer’s society.
The team at the home got stuck in to help raise funds for this very important cause. Louise, Gosia, Ruby-Mae and Hannah completed the 24 mile hike at Rutland water which took 9hrs and 41 minutes and came back to the home to rest, spending the night under the stars.
A trip to Sophie Allport and the Sugar Mill
Wood Grange residents had a lovely morning, first we headed to the flagship store of Sophie Allport in Bourne. We are extremely lucky to have this store on our door step which is filled with homeware and fashion products, Janet was over the moon as she found a bag she really liked and was even happier to discover it was reduced by 25%! All this shopping then led us to one of our local pubs, The Sugar Mill. Some residents enjoyed a hot drink whilst others got into the true spirit of being in the pub and enjoyed half a Guinness, this was all accompanied with chocolate cake of course! John has recently moved to Wood Grange and said, “It has been nice to do something different this morning, I have really enjoyed myself”
The Vine Farm Shop & Cafe
Residents at Wood Grange enjoyed a morning out visiting our local Farm Shop & Café in Deeping St Nicholas, The Vine Farm Shop. Once we arrived, we were surprised to see the fish mongers van outside the shop, Roy’s daughter treated him to dressed crab to take back to Wood Grange for his lunch. Residents looked around the shop first at the local Lincolnshire produce and purchased a few little bits, such as Gooseberry Jam, Yum! After looking at all these wonderful products out tummies started to rumble, the café was calling us! We enjoyed a selection of cakes, hot chocolate, tea & coffee. The Vine Farm also has wonderful gardens to explore, which we did. Residents had a wonderful time and really enjoyed themselves.
