Activities at Woodland View Care Home

Activities at Woodland View

Woodland View is passionately committed to providing residents with a varied choice of entertainment, social, health and well being, craft and relaxation based activities.

Activities will all be meaningful and based on the likes of residents and will continue to evolve depending on our residents. The activities provided will also include involvement from other local community based organisations and are open to all residents, family and friends of residents. Our activities will be facilitated by staff from all departments as well as invited guests. Families are also enthusiastically encouraged to play a part in activities when possible.

There will always be at least one person at every activity who has been DBS checked to ensure the safeguarding of our residents. The dignity of our residents and our respect for them is at the centre of everything we do, each and every day.

We are always reviewing and changing our schedule of activities to be a centre of excellence and actively invite feedback and suggestions for new and meaningful activities and ideas.

Petra Hardman

Activities Coordinator

Hi my name is Petra and I'm the Activities Coordinator here at Woodland View. I love seeing the difference that activities can make to each individual, and finding out what interests they have and ensure I incorporate that into our activities here.

I love music and drama coming from a musical background as a singer all over the country, music is important to me and I feel it makes such a difference to everyone, it evokes memories, and creates happiness. I also love to boost residents self esteem by creating pampering sessions and having one to one time to relax and reminisce.

Rainbows and Best Wishes

Here at Woodland View we are keeping positive and sending out love and support out to those in the community. We have made rainbows and banners to share our best wishes with those working in the NHS and to everybody in the community. Residents enjoying being able to do this to share our positivity and contribute to brightening the road where we live.

Mother's Day

Staff at Woodland View worked so very hard to make this Mother's Day a special one despite restrictions. We had lots of deliveries of flowers, chocolates and cards for the Mothers here at Woodland View. We set up skype calls for residents to be able to talk to their families and see each others faces.

In the afternoon, the fantastic Karon Black offered to come to perform for the residents from outside of the home to ensure that the residents were kept safe and entertained! She performed some of our residents favourite songs completely free of charge and the residents very much enjoyed this lovely surprise.

St Patricks Day

Staff and residents had high spirits for St Patricks Day at Woodland View. The fun continues despite us being closed to visitors at present. We decorated the home with Irish festivities, tasted some traditional Irish dished and played Irish music!

International Womens Day

For International Women's Day, one of our residents Peter wanted to give all the ladies in the home a flower. Residents, staff and visitors were delighted by the kind gift! Thank you Peter for making international women's day so special!

Flower Arranging for St David's Day

On St. David's Day this year, residents at Woodland View enjoyed a visit from Sara who showed us how to create our own lovely flower arrangements. Residents were then able to display the beautiful arrangements in their rooms or give them to a loved one as a present!
