Activities at Woodland View Care Home

Activities at Woodland View

Woodland View is passionately committed to providing residents with a varied choice of entertainment, social, health and well being, craft and relaxation based activities.

Activities will all be meaningful and based on the likes of residents and will continue to evolve depending on our residents. The activities provided will also include involvement from other local community based organisations and are open to all residents, family and friends of residents. Our activities will be facilitated by staff from all departments as well as invited guests. Families are also enthusiastically encouraged to play a part in activities when possible.

There will always be at least one person at every activity who has been DBS checked to ensure the safeguarding of our residents. The dignity of our residents and our respect for them is at the centre of everything we do, each and every day.

We are always reviewing and changing our schedule of activities to be a centre of excellence and actively invite feedback and suggestions for new and meaningful activities and ideas.

Petra Hardman

Activities Coordinator

Hi my name is Petra and I'm the Activities Coordinator here at Woodland View. I love seeing the difference that activities can make to each individual, and finding out what interests they have and ensure I incorporate that into our activities here.

I love music and drama coming from a musical background as a singer all over the country, music is important to me and I feel it makes such a difference to everyone, it evokes memories, and creates happiness. I also love to boost residents self esteem by creating pampering sessions and having one to one time to relax and reminisce.

Random Acts of Wildness

Residents and staff at Woodland View had their green fingers at the ready and got involved in some random acts of wildness as they took part in the 30 Days Wild initiative throughout June, set up by the Wildlife Trust.

They joined thousands of people across the country to take part in the annual nature challenge, doing one wild thing a day throughout the whole month, which is designed to improve your health, well-being and get you thinking about the planet.

Staff organised a whole host of events, including building bug hotels for the garden, creating wildlife arts, making birdfeeder, planting and gardening, watching wildlife webcams online and staying in the gardens to enjoy wonderful weather.

Royal Ascot

Residents and staff at Woodland View dressed to impress, donned their best hats, and had their bets at the ready for Royal Ascot, which ran from 16th – 20th June.

But racing fans at Woodland View weren’t phased by this, as they had the opportunity to enjoy the event from the comfort of their own armchair. Residents and staff got together to watch the races, and also celebrated in a very Royal Ascot fashion by having garden party with music and decorations and also took part in hat making arts and crafts and dressing up in Royal Ascot fashion.

VE Day Celebration

Residents at Woodland View celebrated VE Day by firstly paying their respects by marking 2 minutes of silence at 11am. Later on in the day we created a memorial display and made the decorations to make our day more festive. Finally, we had a Cream Tea Garden Party and enjoyed a selection of songs by Vera Lynn.

It was a special day thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Exercise Classes... to keep us moving!

Residents at Woodland View took part in a 'socially distanced' exercise class to make sure that they keep building their strength and mobility; led by our activities co-ordinator, Egle.

National Tea Day

National Tea Day at Woodland View was a joyful day for all. We received a lovely hamper from National Tea Day's team which was such a treat for residents and staff. The fun included tea based competitions and a quiz; the winner received some chocolates and a bottle of wine! Residents then enjoyed afternoon tea in the garden celebrating both the queens birthday and National Tea Day in style!
