Activities at Worplesdon View Care Home

Activities at Worplesdon View

The activities team at Worplesdon View organise and run activities and events for large groups, small groups and individual residents. We include relatives, volunteers and the remaining staff whenever possible and encourage choice and participation from everyone we support. Our programme is planned in advance and is is designed provide tailored, meaningful activities for residents to participate in that will stimulate all senses, whist encouraging mental and physical well-being. We have an activity plan for all residents, and of course, this changes with the needs of each person to keep it up-to-date and useful. Worplesdon View is a fun and dynamic place to live and work, and the secret to this is that everyone is encouraged to see activities as part of their role in the home so that residents are happy and always have something to do.

Life at Worplesdon View Care Home

CEO and Managing Director Visit

The front of our home is beautiful, and we were so proud to show it off to our CEO, Peter Calveley on his visit this February, and our Managing Director, Natasha Lazovic. We were praised for all our hard work and our Chef, Steve's freshly made croissants went down a storm! Natasha described it as a “10/10 visit”. Thank you to everyone that helps us do the best for our residents.

Mr Magic Hat

Thank you so much to Mr Magic Hat, who visited us in February, you held us utterly, spellbound! We cannot wait to have you back! Charismatic and slick, Mr Magic Hat is the ultimate showman, he wowed us, made us laugh and we're still scratching our heads over his illusions!

Pet Therapy with Stanley

We love animals at Worplesdon View, so we were very excited to have Stanley and Nicky visit us. Stanely is a therapy dog (check the official bandana!) and all round goodest boy! Never have we had so many people enquire about an activity! Needless to say, we are counting down the days until their next visit on Easter Sunday!

Cornish Pasty and Cider Tasting

We had a great time yesterday celebrating Cornish Pasty week, to complete the experience we sampled some ciders too! The tasting went down a treat! We had a mixture of sweet and dry ciders to try so everyone was happy. We followed this with some informational videos and a quiz, do you know how to stop cider turning into vinegar? We do! We now consider ourselves Cornwall experts! Perhaps we should do cream teas next!

Burns Night

Again, we transformed our Bistro into a seasonal community hub, with tartan bows and excerpts from ‘Tam O’ Shanter’ for Burns Night. We were also treated to vegetarian haggis and gravy, a Scottish lingo quiz and Robert Burns Poetry. Every Scot (and Sassenach) was offered haggis, the good news is – it was delicious, that bad news - unfortunately it didn’t hang around long enough for a photo!

Classical Violinist

At Worplesdon View our residents love music, and we make a special effort to make sure we have lots of varied acts visiting us every month. We were very lucky to host Annabel Sheridan this month,  classical violinist and pianist. She took us through some of her favourite pieces and created a sense of tranquillity for all present.
