Activities at Adlington Manor Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Lynne Bowler
I joined the activities team at Adlington Manor in May 2017. Previously, I have worked as a tree surgeon and have had heavy involvement with the Guides and Brownies. I love participating in activities with residents, whether that's by driving the minibus on trips outside the home, or by engaging in themed days.
I am passionate about my role and especially the challenge of coming up with new ways to engage as many residents as possible in our activities here.

Real Bread Week
Residents had fun making dough balls for Real Bread Week. Our chefs made homemade crumpets & fruit cakes, which were enjoyed by all.
Time for a Cuppa
We had a visit from the Major of Poynton, who joined us for our 'Time for a Cuppa' event in aid of Dementia UK. We held a bake sale, had our fabulous singer, Debbie, in & drank lots of tea! In total, we raised over £32 for this great cause.
Valentine's Day
A fabulous day was had by all! We were serenaded by Dave the singer and treated to a glass of pink fizz each. We ended the day by watching Ghost and having a romantic dinner. Each resident got a balloon to remember lost loved ones and, of course, a rose with a chocolate goody bag!
Living Well Community Group
Residents had a great time at the Living Well Community Group; they played bingo, had a good ol' singalong and also did some exercises, which everyone really loved.
Chinese New Year
Residents had fun reading their fortune cookies in celebration of the Year of the Pig. We had prawn crackers on the afternoon tea trolley to continue the celebrations.
Chair Renovation Project
After a couple of residents requested to do a woodwork project, we decided to get an old chair and renovate it. Everyone had fun sanding it down, and the next stage is deciding on the varnish and fabrics. Watch this space for the finished product!
