Activities at Adlington Manor Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Lynne Bowler
I joined the activities team at Adlington Manor in May 2017. Previously, I have worked as a tree surgeon and have had heavy involvement with the Guides and Brownies. I love participating in activities with residents, whether that's by driving the minibus on trips outside the home, or by engaging in themed days.
I am passionate about my role and especially the challenge of coming up with new ways to engage as many residents as possible in our activities here.

Life at Adlington Manor Care Home
Halloween
Here at Adlington Manor we got into the spooky Halloween spirit of things by creating an autumnal display with painted and carved pumpkins, flowers and wreaths.
We hosted a fun-filled party with delicious Halloween inspired treats, mocktails and themed music, especially prepared by the homes hospitality team.
Some of our residents preferred to paint and decorate pumpkins and to dress up for the occasion, others got involved in themed quizzes and games, and enjoyed watching Halloween films. We all had a spooktacular time.
Ghostly baking
The fun and laughter continued over the weekend as residents enjoyed a special Halloween Spooktacluar baking session.
There has been lots of themed activities from baking, crafting friendly ghost decorations that adorn the home’s communal areas and presenting ghostly face cakes for all to enjoy.
These type of activities are meaningful to residents providing social engagement, and creating a lot of fun within the home.
Pumpkin carving
Halloween is approaching and Residents of Adlington Manor have been busy preparing themed activities for everyone to enjoy.
Residents have enjoyed carving pumpkins, with many sharing fond memories of carving pumpkins with their loved ones, from being children themselves, to carving and celebrating Halloween with their own loved ones throughout the years.
It was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon!
Lifetime Achiever attends BHC Awards
We are proud to announce that Gina Hurst has been crowned Lifetime Achiever of the Year for the NW North Division in this year’s Barchester Care Awards and is through to the national round of judging.
Our divisional winner Gina Hurst is through to the national finals in which the overall winner is decided. She will join winners from across the UK at a special awards event at the Midland Hotel, accompanied by General Manager Fiona Gough to celebrate their outstanding achievements and discover if they have won a national award.
Baking Club
Residents from Adlington Manor enjoyed an afternoon of cookie baking as part of their baking masterclass which took them back to their younger years. Baking sessions are a popular activity for the home and the activity had taste buds tingling.
Danielle Cheetham, Deputy General Manager said: “The residents enjoyed getting creative with their baking as it not only brings back memories of their childhood, but also times when they’ve baked with their own children and grandchildren. Once all the cakes were set, we all enjoyed sitting down with a cup of tea to enjoy!”
Baking skills
It’s been a busy day here at Adlington Manor today. The day started off with a trip to see our hair dresser pat to have a pamper with a cup of tea and freshly made cookies.
Before settling down for flower arranging in the activities room. Looking at all the bright colours and picking our favourite flowers for the vases.
After lunch we got creative decorating our cakes ready for the coffee morning tomorrow and making soft oat biscuits.
