Activities at Adlington Manor Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Lynne Bowler

Activities Coordinator

I joined the activities team at Adlington Manor in May 2017. Previously, I have worked as a tree surgeon and have had heavy involvement with the Guides and Brownies. I love participating in activities with residents, whether that's by driving the minibus on trips outside the home, or by engaging in themed days.

I am passionate about my role and especially the challenge of coming up with new ways to engage as many residents as possible in our activities here.

World Beatles Day

On Monday 26th June staff and residents celebrated International Beatles day by looking back at the 60's,70's and 80's music

Residents enjoyed singing along to the best of the Beatles and Abba, taking part in fun activities and tuck into a 80s style buffet and spam fritters for tea which went down a treat. Staff dressed for the occasion with some looking unrecognisable.

Love is in the air

Love was in the air at Adlington Manor!  We were only too happy to help with a special wish. A surprise visit from the bride and groom delighted our resident who had been unable to join them on their special day.  Tables were decorated with gorgeous blooms recreating the ceremony in the bistro, it was all very emotional and the bride looked stunning!

With love and best wishes from everyone at Adlington Manor!

Father's Day

All of the gents here at Adlington Manor have had a great time being celebrated on Father's Day. Our gentleman had a wonderful afternoon playing dominoes and celebrating father’s day with a nice cold beer!

Bringing the beach to our home

We celebrated the lovely weather by having a day at the beach  -  we brought the beach to Adlington Manor celebrating with Punch and Judy, hook a duck and many more. After a wonderful BBQ lunch prepared by our chef with Ice Cream cones to follow, we spent the afternoon with our fabulous entertainer singing & dancing.

As one resident said; "the best day ever!"

Historic Hendon

Across our services we had a lovely time joining Rhiannon Watkinson from the RAF Museum London for an interactive talk exploring the exciting and innovative aviation history of Hendon.

Our residents were able to learn about the first flights from the fields at Hendon, the creation of the London Aerodrome and Battle of Britain pilots who flew from RAF Hendon.

The talk also included photographic and film material from the Museum’s archive. Residents across our homes had a fantastic time and we truly enjoyed the virtual experience.

70-years young birthday wishes

We love to celebrate birthdays here at Adlington Manor and this week was no different when we celebrated one of our colleagues, Ann’s 70-years young! The birthday girl received gifts, cards and was presented with a delicious homemade cake especially prepared by the homes hospitality team.

Happy Birthday, Ann!
