Activities at Alice Grange Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Penny Allen
Hi, my name is Penny and I am the Lead Activities Coordinator here at Alice Grange.
I have many years of experience working in care homes in Activities, leisure and lifestyle roles.
I love being part of the Alice Grange team and supporting our residents to live their best lives with fun, interesting, and varied activities available every week. I always feel that the residents' input into our weekly planner is important as it gives all residents equal opportunity to explore new interests as well as keeping up with previous passions and hobbies.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Scrabble Club
Scrabble is a really good activity for our residents' intellectual and social needs. Although we now have Scrabble on our larger than life board in smaller groups due to social distancing, its always fun for our residents to join in.
Knit & Natter
We have been busy with our Knit and Natter group. Our ongoing project is to make flowers and butterflies. Here is one of our residents concentrating on trying to crotchet a butterfly.
This is a really good social activity, which we have now been able to resume with all social distancing in place. Our ladies really look forward to this weekly activity.
We'll Meet Again
We made a mood board and played Vera Lynn's lovely songs throughout the day whilst reading quotes from her book, 'Keep Smiling Through - My Wartime Story'. Watching the funeral and the spitfire flypast on TV was very emotional for all.
Father's Day
Everyone has lots of fun celebrating Father's Day here at Alice Grange!
International Nurses' Day
On 12th May 2020, we celebrated International Nurses' Day, and all of our nurses at Alice Grange received a fun medal and a Krispie Cream doughnut.
VE Day
On the 8th May 2020, we celebrated VE Day. There was lots of reminiscing throughout the day and staff dressed as land army girls. We finished off the day with a singalong in the garden and afternoon tea with themed cakes and scones with fresh cream and jam, and Pimm's. We played 'Pin the Cigar on Churchill' and all received a VE day pack with lots of memorabilia.
